Nice ride. We actually looked at them along with the TL and G35s (I realize they are a different catagory).
We decided that the MPG for the Acura and the sedans was waaaaay to high and so we decided to get something a little bigger. :)

We contemplated the MDX, and I liked the ride, but didn't care for the looks.

Went with a Range Rover.

Lexus is similar to that Acura concept, at least from my experience they don't have loads of options. Just a package or two, but those are ones that pretty much everyone gets.

nope, don't like the MDX' looks at all. The X5's looks are slightly better but haven't test driven it... waiting for the 2007 X5... started a thread on it... supposed to be nice improvements, including looks...

2006 model adds very little. 2007 is the major change. But I couldn't wait another year. Besides, the price is bound to go up not unlike the RL when they did the re-design.

Which begs the question, how is it that Honda can have virtually everything come standard and still give you a great price but other car manufacturers nickel-and-dime you to death (i.e. Toyota)?

You can't. The MDX is a double-loaded Honda Pilot. The Pilot has 3 models, which differ drastically in trim and price.

Of course, having said that - the gf just bought a loaded Pilot - for about $10k less than that MDX... (minus the navigation, but I believe all the essentials are nearly identical)

Not saying the MDX is a bad deal - I think you get a better warranty and of course the misc "acura" benefits and higher quality trim etc... but it's definitely not everything come standard - take a good look at a base honda pilot sometime...

Pretty much... the Acura is "everything standard" and Toyota does not nickel-and-dime you to death. If you buy an RX330, you only have a few package choices as decribed before.

It's mostly the European car makers that have multiple packages and options. Some people WANT the choice that multiple options offer. ie What if I don't want the Bose stereo with the car?

You get exactly what you pay for... hopefully I can pick up my 06 ML350 soon, waiting for delivery. You should have looked on one of those for a little bit more as well as the X5 and Land Rover LR3, or at least the Pilot.

Honestly, the MDX's trim is only subtly better than a fully loaded Pilot's... thus most journalists say go with the Pilot.

on both of my TL's, they came standard with front seat warmers, heated side mirrors, homelink system, floormats and some other stuff that I think were extras on the infiniti and lexus...

Somehow I think the price for these features is built into the base cost of the vehicle. I'd rather them cut the price down by 5k or whatever and let me add the feature(s) that I care about.

not sure how much has changed by now, but when I got my 2000 TL, the comparably priced infiniti did not have the extras that came standard on the TL (heated seats, etc)...

Honda Rules Thats Why!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ther pruduct is far superior and since they sell the largest volume across the world in all of their divisions, smart consumers like us can take advantage of that. I also just got on but I didnt get the Touring edition. I was able to walk out with luxury edition +Towing Package+chrome sidestep+ Rear Spoiler for $36,500, I hagled for about 3 hours, though and did plenty of research before hand on edmunds.com etc edmunds

so far, so good for me. It's difficult for me to tell when the gear changes. It's very smooth.

Nice purchase. We got the Pilot EX for under $29K as the MDX was too much dough to spend.
