as opposed to the promedia 2.1 speakers that were not THX certified?
If you knew anything about the pro media 2.1 speakers they come in THX certified and just 2.1...…..
There is a huge difference in a THX certified speker and one at this level that is NOT THX certified.
Also the price difference is quite substantial………...non THX certified 2.1 Kilipsch Pro media is approx. $109.00
Certified THX 2.1 Klipsch Pro media is approx. -- $199.00 new...…..so opposed to what I might add?

I loved mine back in the day. They were great for games, but too boomy for music.

Exactly. I loved them at first, but grew to dislike them as I value music over games. They have inadequate drivers and attempt to compensate the lack of midbass with a subwoofer. The end result is a muddy mess.

Actually you don`t know what you are talking about...…...ebay is a crap shoot! These were still boxed and had not been opened. Also the Klipsch 2.1 Promedia THX certified retails for upwards of $199.00!1 Mind you these are new and ebay is mostly used and what new ones I did find in ebay were nowhere near what I paid for these and I did not have to pay shipping! I really doubt you have any versions of the pro media 2.1 THX certified...…..

Still use my set of 5 paired with a slim Sony receiver ( as spkrs are 4 ohm) and a sub for PC gaming. Oh, and they do say its THX certified or whatever.....;)

The only difference with the THX model is that they paid a licensing fee, and you don't get bluetooth. And it's $129 for the THX model.

Personally I would have rather paid the extra $20 for new speakers with a warranty (free shipping), especially when these are known to fail.

Specs:

Bluetooth:

Huge difference!

Do you actually know what your talking about?? umm NO!!
Here are the price points from Amazon --
Promedia 2.1 THX certified $214.00 -- https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProM...809412&sr=8-3&keywords=klipsch+promedia+2.1--
Promedia 2.1 Blue Tooth -- $201.00 https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProM...46809607&sr=8-5&keywords=klipsch+promedia+2.1

So let me guess your prices are based on ebay? You must remember the ones I bought were in the original unopened sealed box!
You can`t tell me that warranty means a things at these price points! Sure warranties are nice but I think you are trying to blow smoke making the argument they are known to fail! My research says otherwise!
Do you know anything about what THX does or is...…..I don`t think so! You really should not dismiss THX as just a company paying a licensing fee...its quite a bit more than a licensing fee!
Can you tell the difference between a THX certified and a non THX certified! It`s really obvious when listrening to such things a movie soundtracks etc...….

This thread is getting a little heated for speakers. :p

I priced the THX version last year when looking at speakers. At the time, they were in sale for $99 - $119 at a few places. When I checked them out on display at Best Buy, I didn't like them compared to a Logitech set that was $100 at the time.

I haven't kept up on their pricing after that, but I also can't fault someone for grabbing these new at $89 if they like the sound of them. All of these PC "speakers in a box" should easily last at least a few years, and should they fail within their 1 year warranty, who's going to pay a pretty penny to mail them back for repair? I know I wouldn't.
