Will my grades make you feel better?

Algebra2/Trig- D-/F+
Japanese3- C
CollegePrepEnglish3- B
US History- B
Chemistry- C

My Alg2/Trig teacher gave me the D- so I could stay in the class 🙂. Japanese 3, like you, I've been lost since Japanese 2. CPE3, easy stuff. US History, hard, but I make it feel easy, but still hard 😉. CHemistry, hard stuff in the beginning, but now I'm getting everything. I ACED a test on naming compunds, and stuff today.

And btw, I got my card before my momma got it 🙂 and I'm a junior in HS.
 
LOL NAMING COMPOUNDS THIS FAR IN THE SCHOOL YEAR AND YOUR A JUNIOR LOL ROFL. Sorry, I get pissed off at other easy Chemistry classes, however mine is AP....
 
I'm on the final stretch of my high school career. Last report card consisted of all Bs. One more six weeks term until the end of the semester. I do all my homework, except for the one last night, and work as hard as I can for each class. I am on the virge of getting into CU. I've got the SAT score, now I need a decent GPA. I know what you're going through

You think AP classes are tough. Wait til some college prof with tenure gets ahold of you.

Honors Algebra 2- B (89, damn so close)
Honors US History 1- A

No honors language in my school. I'm definately gonna pull my Algebra 2 grade up to an A this marking period. I have a decent chance at an A in Chem, but I gotta do the homework for once. I get all the sutff better than most people in my class, but she puts too much emphasis on homework. If I'm getting 93-96 on every test, I should have an A. My Spanish grade might slip though, I'm kinda having trouble in that class. Language isn't my best subject. Luckily my English teacher is also a football coach, meaning his teaching job comes second and everyone gets an A as long as you aren't 100% stupid 🙂 US History 1 is a joke, I took the final at the beginning of the year (to see what we knew) and I got a B. I don't even have a notebook for that class. Programming isn't easy, but I'm good at it. Gym is easy, especially considering all we have been doing is training for climbing the rock wall that's built into the side of our gym. Not hard. So overall, not a terrible schedule.
 
My AP Euro teacher was a college professor for twenty years, in fact he still pulls the same crap he did before. He locks the door the second the bell rings, and if you try to knock on the door to get in, you are kicked out of the class permanently.

I really don't see why people posted their own report cards in this thread. If you want to inflate your egos with some letter grades of yours, find another thread that actually asks for it. You're NOT helping any.
 
dont sweat it,kid.Math,english and science carry the day after hs.Keep on keepin on.Moms will always worry.Bring the math up,freshman math at any A school is a bear if you havent prepared yourself.The other stuff will fall into place.The building foundation must be firm,or you will be sorry later.
 
You guys that actually have good schools are lucky, even if it is hard. My HS was a joke. I live in TN and we are like last in everything educational. So I graduate with like a 98 cumulative but I have 0 study skills and my school offered no computer classes. (Well, two but they were like Word and Excel and using the internet, and I took one of them) So when I get to Vanderbilt (that was last year) and take CS 101 I know nothing. And Chem 104. Oh my goodness. I had like three years of science in HS and knew nothing. I got a C- in there and that was with a huge curve. (On one test an F was a 40, I still got a 36)

Anyway. Take advantage of your opportunity. Be dilligent now and the rest of your life will be easier. For example my best friend (graduated from HS with, go to TN Tech with now) taught himself how to study in fourth grade. So he graduated with a 99.3 and 4.0 (no 5.0 classes) but more importantly than that he can study. So last year at seminary (Southern in Louisville) he had the highest grades in all his classes (straight 100's I believe) And now at TN Tech he has all A's (don't know his numerical grades) But the thing is he is not the smartest guy in the world. He's pretty smart but the guy just knows how to study. And he has a life. He works about 20 hours a week, 17 hours of classes, and studies the Bible a ton. Plus goes to church all day Sunday and Tuesday nights.

So what I am saying is start being dilligent now and you will reap the benefits 100 fold.
 
why are you guys posting your straight A/A- report cards? yeah that will really improve urbantechie's situation....

impact55, how do you play ice hockey and basketball? Aren't HS ice hockey and basketball the same season?

, I can't take an AP course as a Sophomore unless I skipped something by doing it over the summer. I will be taking two, potentially 3, AP courses as a Junior and I might do Math4 over the summer so I can do AP Calc next year along with AP Physics and AP History. Then as a senior either do AP Calc2 and/or AP Statistics. However, AP Stats is aparently easy, but a LOT of busy work and is extremely boring.

rking, ppl are posting their straight A's report card b/c they want to brag. hell, I would too but I didn't get straight A's...or B's for a matter of fact 🙁

and if you guys think spanish is hard, try latin (no, I'm not talking about latin 1...but latin 2 and 3 will break a lot of you who aren't good at memorizing).

I play Varsity/Junior Varsity Ice hockey which I take seriously (I'm good), however basketball is second because it is a church league. My school is in the top 50 for basketball teams, plus 99% of our players are 6'2 + and black.

Sorry if I offended you by &quot;joking&quot; on Honors courses. I am probably being stereotypical, but all my friends in easier public schools take Honors courses that are weighted, and are ridicously easy.

I don't doubt that it's possible to have a 'life' and do good in school. Actually, regardless of your life, everyone has the potential to do well in school without much effort, it's just that some people don't want to do the work because it's fscking annoying and useless in the overall scheme of life. Oddly enough, it seems like the people I know who have 'lives' do better in school in terms of grades then those who do computer stuff most of the time.

Is school a test of intelligence? Obviously not
Is it a test of how well you can conform to a teacher's every crazy whim and insane homework/exam scheduling? Of cource


 
Wtf I'm in 10th grade but I don't have all these wack AP classes. There's only a couple at schools and usually seniors take them. Though on of my friends is in AP Stats as a Sophmore but thats it.

Erm that's 4.0. I always get that damnit! But I guess that isn't much considering many of you have slightly lower grades but much harder classes. And wtf we have no programming courses here. There is PC Technician (bro has it... doesn't do anything and its easy and he plays games for the 2 hours) but can't take that till 11th grade.
 
I agree with a lot of your points such as school reflecting intelligence, however good high school grades ( GPA &amp; SAT scores) lead to a better college which will help you become more successful in life. One thing you don't understand though, is that school helps show your commitment and dedication to something, which is a baby compared to the military. My dad is the boss of his law firm, and I've talked to him and other bosses, and they all share the same idea that the commitment &amp; dedication of military veterans is very important and helps put them ahead of the others. Basically, commitment and dedication are two valuable virtues that should be developed to be used in later stages of life.

Yeah, I'm fortunate to have a programming class in High School, same with the rest of the people here. My school is one of the few in Oklahoma that have a programming course with AP classes. My teacher is also very educated, something I did not expect. Do the rest of you with courses have good teachers? I think these teachers should be paid more! 🙂

My last semester in my Sophmore year, I got a 2.74. Last semester of my Junior year, I got a 2.5. I get 3.2s and 3.0s my first semesters, but bomb the second. Call it stress induced if you will, but I think you seriously need to take a break. Find something that relaxes you, and let yourself go. You can't have fun all the time though, make time for it after school. For me, football and basketball get my mind off everything. I get off school early, and get my big projects out of the way. Hell, I even do homework on fridays. This is so that I can go the longest time without worrying.

I've filled out my application to CU, and will be finishing up my applications for CSU and DU this week. I used to spend many a night wondering if I could get into CU. That all stopped when my counsellor said, out of the three, I'm definitely going to get into one of those colleges.

I've had a lot of family related problems, and I've noted them in my personal essays. Basically, I'm a pooch screwed kid when it comes to a normal family. I'm humble though, and unlike the f8Ckers who seek attention 24/7, this was the only time I could tell someone how I felt about my life. There are people who have more problems them me, and do better. I'm not that strong, but I will almost never complain(with the advent of AT OT, I can actually complain and have someone listen and if they made fun of me, it wouldn't matter. I don't know ya'll personally).

So long as you're a good person and try your hardest under your circumstances, you will get into college. I'm so close, but I'm not gonna slack off now. I'm so psyched about going to college. I'm not the smartest in my generation, but it will make my parents so proud.


So, don't stress, man. Relax. Do your best. Set your priorities. Study now, girls later.

Thx SuperGroove. It's hard though. My parent's aren't the richest but they try to get me everything I want. My dad has so many expections for me and my sisters when we get out of school. Thats why they are always on my back. My dad has a temper too so that makes me a little scared as well.
