My freshman year a friend in a class called me up to ask me when the final was. The final started at 11 and went until 2 PM. I finished in a little over an hour and was home when she called at 12:30. I told her that the final was going on at that moment. She didn't believe me for a couple of minutes, then she took off for school. She got to the final a little before 1 and the prof let her take the test until it was over at 2PM.
So, yeah, thats my story. Get ahold of your prof and be completely honest. The worst thing that could happen is that you would eat the bad grade. Hopefully if you are honest your prof will allow you to makeup the exam.

Does she teach any other classes? Usually Profs will let you take the final in thier other classes. But first thing is call the prof up now!

Get on your hands and knees and beg. Cry like the world is ending. Explain how hard you were working on a project and how you accidentally overslept because you were working sooooo hard to do well and that you were studying sooo hard for their exam. Make a big scene out of it. Do it in public if possible to get the maximum effect. Bring some suicide brocures along too and constantly make references to them.
<< i slept thru a final once. i didn't do anything about it. got an incomplete on my report card. so i contacted the professor a week into the next quarter and he said, "well, when do you wanna take the final?" i told him in a week, he said fine and i came in and took the final. got a C in the class...but oh well. >>

if your dad teaches Philosophy at a Minnesota college then it was me. probably wasn't though because i wasn't a 'joker'. that class was a waste of time and boring as hell.

Two kids would have slept through my Contemporary Lit final Tuesday morning at 8. But the teacher realized they weren't there and called them and woke them up. IMO, that's a good teacher right there that actually cares about her students. I wish more teachers were that way.

This teacher is the complete opposite. Tons of homework. Hard-ass midterms. Could care less about his students.

ahh, wasn't him then, he teaches med school. i refer to the person as a joker because they waited until a long time after the fact before getting in contact with him, then came to his office in tears.
Go talk to your prof. It is the only way you are going to be able to do something that won't screw you over. Don't just send him an email because he is going to care even less about you missing the final.
