So you didn't miss the midterm?

It was a different guy.

So you missed one midterm & another did not give a midterm?

Cheers,
Aquaman

I think what hes saying is that somone else (like an assistant) handed out the exam for the professor

i've had my alarm clock's switch get funky on me, and somehow slightly disengage. it was still in the on position (hadn't turned it off), but it needed a jiggle to actually turn on. i missed an appointment with a client. :(

No it wasn't. You either:

WRONG!!! (maybe)

I always thought I was forgetting about waking up and turning off the alarm and going to sleep... but I found out my Sony alarm actually does screw up.

There's two alarms on it - and if I push Snooze on it a few times (enough to make it into the time of the other alarm) neither alarm will go off. My only solution was to get a second alarm.

Also, I have an older alarm that doesn't even go off any more because it broke when I left it on for a weekend accidentally while I went home.

Last year, I forgot that my Chemistry Final started 1 hour before the usuall start of class. Thankfully it was a 2 hour test, so I as able to finish it durring the second half.

If your professor is a somewhat nice guy (and hopefully just an Assistant professor) I'm fairly sure that he will be willing to give you a make up exam.

oh, and get a new alarm clock.

i did this in Calculus once..
i missed it ...me and my roomate both did..we lived in dorms...both had the same class..early in morning,
used same alarm clock, it didn't go off, we both missed it. Went and talked to Prof...she finally agreed
but penalty is we get 50% of what we actually score.

i got 98 out of 100 so she gave me a 49. still failed but still managed to get an A overall in the class
but slamming and aceing the rest of quizzes/tests. Avoided her like the plague for the rest of my
adv. math and calc classes henceforth.

I missed a final once. Erk, that was bad. But I explained the prof what had happened; entirely my fault, I wrote the date down wrong, and he let me make it up and docked me a half a grade in the class.

I don't wanna scare ya, but I missed a midterm once cuz I thought it was a different day and I skipped class to study for another midterm. I ended up getting a 0 for 30% of my grade, failed the class, was forced to switch majors, became disillusioned with college and life in general, graduated with a 2.5 average in one of the worst job markets in a long time, settled for a dead-end job at a startup cuz no one would hire me etc. etc. etc.

So my life pretty much sucks after I missed that exam!

(I don't blame it on the exam, but on myself getting so fed up and frustrated and not seeking help after confrontation with the prof.)

see, this is why you use your winamp playlist and 4.1 speakers cranked up as your alarm clock. You get the hell up when the room shakes. Good luck with it.

I missed a midterm a few weeks ago, for psychology, it was only worth 15% so it doesn't affect my passing or not passing, but it still sucked. I just didn't even know that I had it, probably due to the not going to that class for the past several months. Oh well, it happens, best thing is to learn from it and make sure that it doesn't happen again.

I did this once in HS, but it was for an english exam. I forgot I had an exam that morning. The teacher called my home a little after 9am when I didn't show up. Seeing how I didn't care it was only english, I took my time to get there. When I got there, had to read the exam several times and still didn't get it (along with the many in the exam room who've asked for help), so just took off when the hour was up and didn't do any of it. I knew what I was walking in with, so I didn't care. Yeah, that was my HS days :) I could be young and irresponsible. It's my right, dag-nabbit! :p

For teh same reason of afraid I may not wake up in the morning, I DON'T sleep on study nights. I study on and off throughout the night. I do well in tests using that method. Works for me :)

Goodluck fella. If you did infact put in an honest effort in class, participated in discussions, did well in tests and such, you should have no problem getting authorisation writing the missed test.

hmmm. Never missed a midterm. I've been late and my mark suffered because if it though.

I did miss a lab test, and paged the instructor and told him that i missed it (about 10 mins after the lab ended) and let me take it when the second group of students did.
150 engineering students broken into 5 sets to accomodate the labs. I considered myself lucky.

You on the other hand probably will not be. By now you could have had the time to verify all the answers on the test.....so the prof will have to make up a new test exclusively for you.

If he lets you take the original test, believe me, i'd be complaining big time if i were in the same class. Even if you were a good boy didn't get answers to the test, it's not a fair situation. You'd be SOL.

I would look into getting a new alarm clock, preferably one not bent on ruining your college career. ;)
Hopefully your prof will be understanding in some way.
