i just LOVE linux configuration files

Hi,

This is just a comment:

I love Unix/linux configuration files for servers. Makes administration so much easier! Just saving config files here and there. Re-installing the OS (in rare instances) and shoving them back into their positions beats the HECK out of clicking away at some GUI in Win2K

I don't know about the registry... but at least they have those Policies that can be
used in different computers.....

But I still prefer a good old text file ( well more than one actually)... Windows used
to use them... win.ini system.ini and such...they should have improved them and
not forget about them completly....

Text configuration files, and a good scripting tool is every admin dream....
 
That's why I dislike Window's registry so much: it's a pain to back up certain parts of it.

config files rule 🙂
 
and if the sys has just some text files for config, you can allways config/reconfig/fix anything in the sys remotely. that's why i do like unix-like systems ... win-whatever is far from this facility 🙂
