I just lost some respect for Anthony Bourdain

Believe it or not, Dennys makes some pretty good burgers now a days, their meat is high quality.

The other day I told her I wanted home-made panda express, it didn't work out well. Now don't get me wrong, my wife is a good cook. She can make some italian dishes, european, hell i don't know....just some god damn good punch your momma dishes all the time.

Asian type quisine, just throws her off.....but ti's my favorite type of food. At least the American interpretation of Asian quisine....any tips?

If you want to copy commercial food, visit sites that specialize in such things. You can get really close to pretty much anything just by using the right recipes. Something like:

I lost most of my respect for Anthony Bourdain when he became a judge on The Taste... and he wasn't a total asshole to the contestants who screwed up.

It's like ABC paid him a big bag of money to cut his nut sack off, and he accepted the other.

Local place, burger ground fresh each day. Had a burger there last night, it was among the best burgers I've ever eaten. Perfectly cooked bacon in every bite - the bacon was at least two layers thick across the bottom of the burger. Real cheese on the top of the burger (American cheese isn't actually cheese.) Nice and juicy, and they put some Jack Daniel's sauce on it. Fresh homemade potato chips on the side. Before we got our meal, a homemade warm small loaf of bread, some sort of butter with olive oil and seasonings, and Greek olives. (edit: I'll bet Anubis has eaten there.)

Foodies don't argue over chain restaurants.

/thread overdue for someone arguing that chain restaurant food is inferior to good quality restaurants.

I consider In-N-Out burgers like a more consistently good Sonic burger (Sonic rarely gets the bun toasted and the meat singed just right), or like Five Guys with different onions (Five Guys gives you chopped onions when you specify raw; they only list grilled onions in the list of toppings). Very comparable. I prefer it over Hardee's/Carl's Jr despite thinner patties because they are more flavor-packed and the meat is sometimes slightly crispy on the edges (tastes awesome!). Hardee's/Carl's just gives you that sweet meat instead of salve.

My experience with local, non-burger joint burgers is that they tend to be awful. Too thick to cook properly so either raw in the middle boiled tasting. If I ain't at a burger joint, I don't order burgers.

Let not forget what In-n-Out is, its a $2 burger that gets most of its taste from being covered in cheese and thousand island sauce

Carls Jr would be best if they cooked on order, but that mainly has to do with the size and varieties of things you can get on the burger. I mainly eat burgers at Inn n Out because you can get protein style no hassle, but I'm not really a fan of their burgers. And their frys aren't that great either.

One place that I thought had good burgers was Habit Burger Grill. Kinda like Inn n Out but better, you can put more stuff on the burger.

The problem with chains is that there are ones that aren't that good that can completely ruin your ability to adequately judge their food. I know it's fast food but still blows my mind how easily people can fuck up the preparation.

As for Anthony Bourdain, he's about the best of the celebrity chef personalities, but that's not really my thing. He seems like he'd be fun to be around because of the stories he could tell (he was on some Vice shorts where he was talking about meeting Steven Segal in some hotel and what a douchebag he was), but he also has one of those personalities where a little bit could go a long way.

I lost respect for him whenever he did one of those shitass apologies after he was saying that stuff about the other food personalities on Twitter. He seemed like someone that would've done that better, it was just a shitty "oh no, I'm sorry I said those things because I'm on the same network as those people and the network isn't happy so I'm saying sorry" apologies though.

Random hole in the wall diner burgers with avocado and bacon > innout > *

It always cracks me up when someone says that automatically local places are better than big chains. Of course there are some........ SOME local mom and pop places that are better than the big chains, but there's a reason why so many little places go under, because majority in general suck.

Never understood the In n out love. It is good for the price, but you can get better burgers a lot of places (of course you will pay more). Also the burgers at in n out are tiny. There is a small chain called the Counter that has insanely good burgers, but they are $10 each.

I liked Fatburger when I lived in SoCal, but only if you order it char grilled, their normal ones are too greasy. Also like their steak fries.

You're talking to a guy who praises Subway.
I'm definitely not the guy to jump on the holier than thou local mom and pop shop bandwagon. But I've been to a lot of Mexican diners and here in So. Cal and almost all of them make mighty tasty burgers.

In 1980 at Jack In The Box we kept cooked patties in a deep steamer pan full of beef broth. I wonder if they still do that.

I've never been to an In N Out, but your classification of Hardee's makes me think your opinion means diddly fuck to anybody who actually enjoys eating burgers.

Sorry man

Has anyone eaten at Fuddruckers? Now, they make a good burger.

I used to work at one. It's a damn shame that most of them have closed up. Despite knowing everything they did to their food, I still ate there after I left. Most of the stuff was fresh... burgers were pressed into patties every morning from fresh beef (so not frozen), buns were baked fresh every morning with fresh dough we made ourselves, and the produce was usually quite fresh too.

It's a shame that most people considered the high price of Fuddruckers a turn-off, when they got a hell of a quality product for the same price that Chili's would charge (without need to tip either).

Why? He was sticking it to the network, since they most likely made him apologize.

I used to eat at a Fuddruckers fairly often with a group from work in the mid-90s. I remember it was a huge place and felt empty even at the height of the lunch hour. They had a giant layout of fresh toppings. Fresh meat, fresh buns. Big ol' burgers cooked to your desired wellness.

But the taste of the burger just wasn't there. It was like a typical burger at home made by someone who just threw some ground beef on a grill.
