I've received Maxim, FHM, and Stuff magazine for maybe five years. I got the subscriptions for free from hot deals. I can say that I've probably read only a handful of articles in all of those years and I quickly skimmed through the pages looking for hot women.
There was never any respect for those magazines though.

the reports in them from jail life to drug cartels and terrorist operations are rather interesting reads (even if they are likely works of fiction) and the "how to" articles are always good. unfortunately from there it turns into crap.

I can't believe I'm arguing this, but the article very clearly points out that it's about buzz and beauty. For whatever reason, she can't seem to keep herself out of the tabloids, etc. so I'm guessing the buzz more than compensates.

Anyways, I suppose that list is fairly reasonable, though I would have guessed more males are obsessed with Scarlett Johansson.

I found this to be truly stupid.
I first got Maxim when they initially started up. I loved the mag but I stopped getting it for 2 or so years. My wife got me a new sub about 7 months ago. Now that I read it it's chocked full of advertisements, probably 3x as much as before. The articles used to be *MUCH* longer. The woman spreads a lot better.
The buying guides on the end used to be a lot better. Now, the fashion guides show blurry distanced pictures, so you can't see what the hell the stuff even looks like. They also used to include more lower-cost options for those of us who don't spend $300 on a shirt, $150 on a tie, $1,500 on a suit, and $600 on shoes.
The last issue had a fashion match-up between two boxers. One was a lot more conservative, the other had a diamond watch the size of the Superdome. Who won? The guy with more ghetto bling. Wow, great.
Maxim has lost almost all of it's appeal to me.
