Now you're just being silly.

You could have made that snake your pet. Just get it's fangs removed.

And if a hyena or rabid dog comes strolling by, make that a pet too by removing all of its teeth?

Why the heck not? :)

Hopefully you will find her nest before her children hatch and come to avenge their mommy...

I'm being serious. Lots of people are calling it a "he" or "him". We don't know that for sure it was male, tho. Just because it resembles a writhing, wriggling penis doesn't make it automatically male, you know. :)

I had a snake end up in my computer room once a couple years ago. At first I thought my eyes were just playing tricks on me when I saw movement, but just to be sure, I looked under my computer desk and there was a two foot or so snake under it. I ran and grabbed an old shovel handle, prodded it out, and proceeded to club the hell out of it. It was pretty resilient for just a snake. Turned out to be just a regular snake, but I don't really care. It invaded my home, so I attacked; much like it would be likely to attack me if I invaded it's home.

Good thing it was a snake and not a dog that was about to be euthanized anyway, or everyone would be going bananas about animal cruelty.

I didn't relish killing him, I just had no other alternative. I love animals, but when one is capable of killing me, my wife, or my neighbors with a single bite, hr's gotta go.

people don't die from snake bite these dayz.

a quick trip to hospital to get the anti-venom, and you're fine.

poor snakey :(
It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.

You obviously don't have kids. Can you imagine how it would feel if your son or daughter died from a snakebite that could have come from a snake you felt "compassion" for? You'd feel like sh1t.

You can get some stuff at Lowe's or Home Depot called....you guessed it, Snake Away. It has sulfer and something else, mothballs, I think. Works fine.
From that Wisconsin website:

Several products that claim to be snake repellents are on the market. Though fashionably marketed and high priced, there is currently NO SNAKE REPELLENT known to be effective. Be skeptical.

Might want to save your money for a shovel.

Wow! That is nuckin futty.

Anyway I know several guys here in Amarillo that catch rattlesnakes with nothing but their hands and a pickle bucket. You will NOT catch my butt doing that.

The only good snake is a dead one.

Do you realize how many more mice/rats would be around if there were no snakes?

Since the majority of snakes are not venomous, this is totally absurd...

I'm sure a bunch of people would rather not have a venomous snake crawling around their property.

For healthy adults, I'm sure that's true. But it's still not a good experience, and could be very bad/fatal with children.

Considering that you can see the tail in the pic, I'm quite sure it's not a rattlesnake. Some species of snake will shake their tails like this as a warning - it can sound like a rattlesnake in dry leaves, etc. My WAG, from the pic is a bull snake.

My guess is the OP found a red rat snake.
