I just installed SB-Live and now my mouse is waay sloooow.....

I just installed my BS live and when I kick off UT,
I get a really slow mouse inside the gui,
and UT, if I try to play, will just crash and lock up my system!

I have reinstalled the SB and my mouse...

I don't appear to have any IRQ conflicts.

I should also say that I was using the Via onboard sound b4 switching to SBLive.

I have the MSI K7T-Pro2a mb, 512mb, AMD 1000mgz, any ideas guys??

I'd just say to make sure the onboard audio is disabled in BIOS, but it sounds like you'd have that covered...
 
First, go to your fridge and grab a bud. Next, Assign the SB Live to IRQ 5 and disable dos support - make sure it is installed in slot 3. Down the beer. You may have to reboot, so go get another beer while the computer restarts. Check system information for conflicts/sharing. Down the beer. If you have any conflicts, give your computer a friendly pat and go get another Bud. Check the weather. If you have any weather, of any kind, go get another Bud. Find a reason to get another. After a few more, your biggest problem will be walking and you won't care about your computer anymore.

Hopefully by now you are starting to feel less tense. In any case, you won't be so anxious to play UT since your reflexes will be shot from all the beer....... (If your mouse is still slow you can blame it on the beer.)

To recap: Assign the SBLive to IRQ 5 and disable dos support. Use slot 3 (which I think does not share an IRQ - check your manual) If you have a USB mouse, then you might want to step-up your drinking or try something stronger than beer.

Any beer will do. After this mother....board, I need therapy and AA! On the positive side I've learned more about computers and spent less time with my family. 😀

I've also learned that sharing is not always a good thing, at least with IRQs. This machine has made me an expert at re-installing my operating system and sense of humor!!! Now that it's stable, I may have to sleep in my own bed.....I think my wife hangs out there at night.:Q
