I installed this router: RangeMax Wireless Router WPN824

Now, im not a beginner at networking or anything, (im sure some would argue this). Ive done the whole networking thing a few times in the past.

Anyways, i have everything installed and im using WPA security on it. My laptop, which is running XP is connected, but the connection eternally says "Aquiring network address." The laptop is connected via wireless connection. I also have a desktop that is plugged into the same router via ethernet, and it is working just fine.

The problem is with the wireless.

Ive tried a few things, but without calling netgear and talking to someone i cant understand im wondering if anyone can suggest something to try.

do you have the most up to date wireless driver available for your laptop?
have you tried it without security on?
have you tried re-entering your key? thats *usually* the problem. put it in again, very slowly, as you hunt-and-peck to make sure its correct :)

Remove any encryption/security and try again. Inability to get a DHCP address is almost always a security/encryption mismatch (incorrect key, incorrect encryption, incorrect key management, etc). Basically you're connected to the access point, but any packets you send/receive are jibberish to the other end.

well i ended up disabling the security and then logging in and it would work. so i turned security back on like a few of you said and it works now. Also i disabled some option on my router which said "extended range" or something like that and i think that was the key. afterwards i just enabled it again.
