Okay, so I did all the installs on my new computer I just put together. I put a boot screen on it the same way I always have (replace the file in System32 physically in safe mode). Now, after the boot screen displays I get a blue screen error that says

STOP : c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000263 (0x00000000 0x000000000).
The system has been shut down.

It gives me the same error if I try to load into safe mode.

Is there a way to get around this by replacing the file with the backup of the original or am I just screwed into reformatting and starting over?

Well, assuming you're using 2k or XP, you can boot to the CD and use the recovery console to replace the file.

Thanks man. I have never tried to boot off of an XP cd before. It kind of sucked because the backup of the file I made was not in an accessible place on C: drive so I had to get a little crazy with it and burn the file off of my other computer. Thanks so much!
