I just hooked up a new DVD/VCR player to my tv and the sound kinda suck...

When I compare the sound from just my tv to the sound produced when I am listening to the SAME television channel through my DVD/VCR the sound from the latter doesn't sound near as good. I'm not sure what it is but it doesn't sound as 'full'. It is in stereo but it's not as good as the sound coming from just the tv (when the DVD/VCR player isn't powered on).

Is this just my imagination?

thanks.

BTW, what is this "3-d Virtual Surround"...is it just a cheap simulation?

Yeah, could be a cheapie sound filter trying to create some magical 3d effect on 2 speakers. Look through the menu settings and see if you can turn it off.
