NEw Rules For School Disctricts in Ceder City Utah,

Which is 2 hours south of me.

No Visable Tattoos.
No See-through t-shirts
No body/Facial Pirceings allowed..

The Ironic thing is that these rules.. are for the Teachers.

OK, I can understand the last two. However, the first one seems odd. I understand wanting to prevent some guy from having a Hell's Angels tattoo, but if some woman teacher had a small tattoo on her ankle, for example, I think it's going a bit to far. Regardless, however, it is still in the districts' rights, no-one is forcing the teachers to work there.

I really don't think some facial piercings are that bad. An eyebrow piercing can look tasteful, now say a bullring, that's another thing.

I think that they probably did the body Piecring one because the distrcit probably thought that it was bad Taste. And they'd probaly lose there Sense of "professionalism"

*chuckle*

I like the saying recently quoted in a newspaper article (unrelated topic, but relevant):

Some people are willing to be so open minded that their brains fall out.

To respond to tcsenter I would say that if this is a new rule then you have to allow people that are currently employed to remain as they are. If it is a new rule, then if it is a requirement of employment we need to remind ourselves that rules are there and have to be respected (mind you I did not say agree with) to be employed.

As fo leting our brains out we also need to think about all of the aspects of rules before we make a commitment to someting.

Remember Gary Giatti is (was) the last in the major leagues to NOT have an ear flap on his batting helmet.:D

Not at all. When you take a job, you agree to all reasonable and legal policy changes. If you don't agree, that's fine. Nobody is going to force anyone to remove a nose ring or cover a tattoo, but they aren't going to work there anymore if they want to continue it. These kind of challenges always fail in court. School districts can make their own policies concerning dress codes, appearance, etc.

The difference being school districts are parts of the goverment tcsenter, meaning they can get away with less than a private concern. Where the law stands on this exactly I'm not sure.
