I only had 1 wisdom tooth grow, the other 3 are .... nonexistant I guess.

Anyways, not only did I only have 1 tooth pulled, it was the EASIEST kind to take out. No chipping/cracking/cutting. Just a simple tug and twist or something and it came out.

i went to a new dentist when i moved. she said i needed my wisdom teeth out. previous dentist said i didnt. all four are in and broken the gum line. i have room for them. they dont hurt.
who to trust?
she referred me to an oral surgeon, but i havent gone yet. im skeptical, she also wanted me to come in for a filling when I DONT have a cavity. she said one of molars a 'trap' and could become a cavity. yeah, no sh!t. Im very much an anti-dentite, now. i wasnt until i met this crook.

For those who had their wisdom teeth removed, I got a question.

After the removal of your tooth, did the dentist stitch up the gum area?
If so, after when do you get rid of the stitch?

i have 4 of them and i found them last year. dentist asked me to remove all 4. so i was like ok. then i went there the next appointment and he scared the crap out of me by saying one of them is sitting on a bunch of nerve ending it's likely as in 50% chance that i will lose feeling on my chin for the rest of my life. i was like hold it. now its been a year i think one of the tooth is coming out (they're all empacted and i cant see them). i will be going to another dentist and then if needed get them removed by an oral surgeon.

those who had all 4 removed. can you eat? can you even go to work? :(

I just bled for eight hours or so when I got mine out. No face swelling. Ate Taco Bell the next day. Still have two of the teeth (they had to break the other ones into tiny pieces) in a box in my desk.
Heh, I scanned them since I'd just recently gotten a scanner, left the image pretty big, and put it on my site at the time with a warning that said "My bloody wisdom teeth (you really don't want to see them)" but people kept looking anyway :p

Pretty sure my doc used the stitching that dissolves.

consider yourself lucky. i had a tooth pulled 2 weeks ago and while the doctor was pulling it he realized that the root had a cyst (due to a bad root canal over a year ago). the cyst was more or less a ball at the end of the root which made the tooth very difficult to pull and needless to say i was sore and swollen for about 4 days after that.
