I just had to take some kind of IBM Aptitude Logic test for a job.

It was for a software support specialist position. They asked me to come in to take a test that all applicants have to take there apparently, just to test logic and problem solving. I figured I'd be out of there in an hour.

I was there for three hours. There were three timed sections and then I had to write a bunch of essays. You fail the test you're out of the running apparently. I guess the president is an ex-IBM guy and thats where the test is from. One of the other people testing said only about 15-20% of the people that take it pass. I can't remember, but I think the woman administering the test confirmed that statement.

LOL...thats not what I was expecting this morning.

I don't even know if IBM still gives the test. The president worked at IBM 30 years ago from how I understand it.

I'm kind of glad I didn't know how bad it was going to be, otherwise I would have just worked myself up. I was more worried about getting my pants ironed this morning then anything.

I took it recently, but there wasn't an essay section. The sections were a number sequence section (what's the following numbers in the sequence of numbers), chart (a table with random numbers, letters, symbols and questions about it), and a math section. It only took like 30 minutes. I took it online.

Your title confused me for a sec; I thought you took an aptitude test for a job at IBM. I was about to say, I didn't have to do that sh!t! LOL

The essay wasn't exactly part of "the test" but it was part of what I was there to do that day, apparently. The essay was the hardest because if you had failed the test you were in there working on this essay that didn't even matter.

This one was an alphabet sequence section (sounds about the same as the number sequence) a series of shapes, patterns and the like. You had to determine the next one in the sequence on each. And the last section was basically math...although it felt more like basic word problems.

I actually enjoyed the shape sequence one...well most of it.

I was actually interviewing at IBM. They have a test called IPATO. I thought that they required everyone to take it.

I didn't accept the position though.

Oh believe me, I know. I made sure to mention it in the essay portion.
