This is a unfriendly reminder to...

#1) UPDATE YOUR AV SOFTWARE! And use it! :|
#2) Don't let family on your puter, becuase they read e-mails from people they don't know.
#3) Do not store e-mail addresses or names in your Outlook, Outlook Express, or Netscape Navigator address books. (Only thing that saved me)

That is all. Thank you. Please drive around to the first window.

I never, ever use AV software. I like a clean running machine, and can't stand crap running in the background. In all my years of internet use, I haven't had any problems with virii.

I don't let anyone use my machine, unless there happens to be a guest over that wants to surf for a bit. I don't use an email program, simply b/c I don't really need to. Web-based email does the trick. That is all.

Monel - stop surfing those pr0n sites ;)

Yeah... ok.

I'm still not going to stop visiting "SexCrazedHairlessMexicanMidgets.com", virus or not.

:D

I've always said the same thing. One DID get through. It actually is a e-mail worm, but the version I have has a really nasty payload. A family member clicked on the e-mail, and Ka-bam!

I see. Well, I just recently switched to McAfee from Norton and wanted to make sure that was a good move. I assume it was in an email attachment that got executed?

What was the file extension of that virus?
Do you think that the new Outlook 2002 would stop that attachment from getting through?

I'm just curious. I'm very worried about your #2 situation. My wife is very good about not opening attachments, but hey, things can happen. Who knows, I might even click something by accident some day.
But, if Outlook wouldn't even let the virus through in the first place, it would make me feel a little better.

I use NAV 5.0 and I haven't EVER had a problem that it didn't find BEFORE it went to work on my computer. Yes, I update regularly.

I have yet to ever have a virus on my system. I run Norton 2001 as of now and since my DSL is connected 24/7 i have it set to autoupdate itself. No problems at all.
