So I was trying to login to Intuit and purchase TurboTax Premier. Unfortunately the email address associated with my account was closed out. I called intuit, the woman I was talking to misunderstood and thought I had already purchased turbotax, but I can't access the download link through my old email address.

She sent me the dl link and I got a invoice from intuit for 0.00 LOLOLOLOL

Congratulations. You won one this time. Tax software should be provided by the government gratis. It goes without saying, all sources should be provided also.

If you read the story of TT, the fed gov was trying to create a free software "for the people". Of course the gov drags their ass on everything and was taking forever to develop this. Intuit came along and did it quick, however they had to pay a premium to the feds (almost like a royalty) to do this.

I guess the advantage of software created by the fed gov was it would be free every year.

I had to do premier because of rental income.

There's a lot of ways it could be done. The worst way is probably in-house by the government. A smart way to do it would be listing a few certified providers on the IRS website, and let the people choose which one they wanted. The company would get paid for each return submitted using their software.

why do you have to pay for it every year? shouldn't it just be like an OS update, free?

Because they want to make money!!!!!!

Yep, I'm sure they could simply design the software so that you buy the CORE, then you buy a "update file" each year which contained new forms and effective tax rate info. It would be hard to justify the cost of a 1MB DAT file!!!!

Keep in mind that there are three versions of Turbo Tax. Deluxe is the plain jane. Premiere is the middle and Home and Business is their flagship top of the line. Premiere will not do schedule S forms such as sale of property. If you need that, you must have the Home and Business.

They did a switchup this year.

Deluxe used to do rental property, now only premier does rental property. I think they did this because they know they could make a whole shit extra just by bundling that into premier.

how much is windows 10 going to cost?
10 is not out yet officially; the actual cost is unknown.
And for many; they still will have to pay to use it. the gift from MS for 7 & 8 users depends on which version you are using.
And those that are still on Vista or XP will have to pay for 10.

Have you always used the same OS that came with your system?
