I just got my first console since my Atari 2600

biostud

Me and my GF bought the PS2 as we just have a regular 21" TV and as we think we can get the games we want for the PS2 without shelling out insane amount of money. As neither of us know much about the games I would like some recommendations.

The games we are going to buy are:

Tekken 5
GT4 (we have this)
Singstar
Dancing stage fusion
Buzz

But I would like to know which games would be great for social play or 2 player.

biostud there is a 25% off used PS2 games coupons going around from ebgames. i have it in my email I could forward to you if you want. it has a limit of 2 games per purchase, but you can just buy 2 games and make multiple trips.

i just got god of war for $14 yesterday which is probably THE best action/adventure game on the PS2. i've always had fun with the Ratchet and Clank games as well as Jak and Daxter (for action/platformers).

If you're into or willing try out a fantasy game that's pretty straight forward and a lot of fun--I HIGHLY recommend Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (the first one). It's no longer being made, so you'll have to buy it used or on ebay.

So much fun for a 2-player game.

Champions of Norrath, awesome awesome Diablo clone set in the Everquest world. Old school hack and slash with over head view and can play with others, great game for people to play together.
As for action/adventure w/e give the Ratchet and Clank series a try, they are more focused on the action side but are great games. Jak series is also very good
You'll love the PS2, has probably the best game library of any console ever.

Thanks for the replies I will be looking into some of those titles 🙂 any other suggestions for 2 player games would be much appreciated.

If you are a fan of fighting games (and I assume by your decision to get Tekken 5 that you are) then Soul Calibur 2 and 3 are pretty top notch.

I actually found two used copies at my local EB, so we went and bought it and have had much fun with it especially because it supports two player co-op. Thx 🙂

I still have (and play) Atari 2600. You should have stayed with that.

Or upgraded to an Atari 7800, backwards compatible you know. BTW, did they ever release Missile Command for the 7800? The 2600 looks like crap compared to the 5200 version.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Final Fantasy X
Kingdom Hearts
Metal Gear Solid 2
Onimusha
Devil May Cry

Pretty much a perfect PS2 starter pack under $50 USD, IMHO.

i double the vote for 'god of war'.

also, baulder's gate😀ark alliance...meh, it's so, so imo. it's basically an over-glorified Gauntlet wannabe...you may like it, if that's what you expect

gamerankings.com or ign.com will come in handy when trying to find games
