but one thing very interesting

By way of an observation ? it has always been Canon's MO to put new technology into their lower end cameras first, then migrating the things that work to their pro level cameras on the next generation. I am assuming that this will be the case with both their new dust elimination capabilities and their higher resolution sensor. A bit of quick math shows that with the small photo sites and greater fill factor found in the XTi, a full frame sensor using this technology would yield between 22?24 Megapixels.

so... when an upgraded 5d comes around... whoooohaaaa I want it

that's for your opinion. Sounds like the 30mm might be the way to go. I did have an MKI 50 f/1.8. It was nice, but I did not like 50mm as a prime on the 1.6x body that much. Plus, it was noisy ok, that last reason is pretty lame, but the 85mm is my comparison point, heh.

Altho I did mention zooms, I have a feeling I'd be happier with a prime. I'm considering selling it all to just have the 24-105L tho... IS is nice for me.

Bestbuy has the sandisk ultra II 2gb for 90 bucks with a 20 mir, so 70. I think ill pick one up today after work. I also saw something called sandisk extreme III? I figure this is something new, anybody tried those?

Boom glass yeah, nice lens but $1600? For a prime? Man that's not just boom glass that's boom wallet! Ever see that Seinfled episode where George's wallet explodes? That's what will happen when you try to buy that lens. Your wallet will make a run for it!

The Extreme III's are the "professional" version of Sandisk's cards and they've been around for a while. Basically they're faster than the Ultra II's and more robust so they can be used in extreme environments. This is not to say that the Ultra IIs aren't robust; they can easily survive a cycle in the washing machine. I moved from the Ultra IIs to Extreme IIIs, and honestly, there is no difference on an XT because the XT isn't fast enough to take advantage of the Extreme III's speed difference. Write speeds were the same as my old Ultra IIs. There will be a difference, however, with real pro bodies like the 1DsMKII.

Me too, especially considering I'd probably end up stopping it down anyway, unless I want just the nose hairs on people's faces to be in focus while the rest of their face is out of the DOF! hehe

focal length: the 50mm or the 30mm or the 500mm for example. This denotes how "zoomed in" you are. The higher the number, the greater the telephoto. The smaller the number, the greater the wideangle.

maximum aperture: f/1.4, f/1.8, f/2.8. This is the widest opening (aperture) the lens has. A wider opening means more light gets through and narrower depth of field. The "f" in this number is the focal length, so f/1.4 is actually the diameter of the largest opening of the lens.
