heeh, actually 9 years late :)

The non-arcade pads are terrible (they slide around), truthfully when I was "into" DDR 6 years ago, I just played at the arcades.

A "good" pad would be one that is heavy, and durable (metal + lexan).

Double Data Rate? Developers Diversified Realty? Dance Dance Revolution?

I hate guessing games.

Everyone says that soft pads fall apart in a matter of weeks. But I put mine on 1/2" plywood and stapled some thick stair liner plastic and they've been going strong for 5 years now.

If you want to read more about pads, start reading the forums over at www.ddrfreak.com

Yep. Play w/ just socks on and those pads will last a good amount of time.

Definately go with the Red Octane Ignition pads if you're willing to spend the money. I don't have any major complaints with the cheap pad I bought at Toys R Us (has the thick padding, $20 iirc). I think one of the buttons isn't releasing correctly all of the time, but I haven't played for a while to test it

Go for a red octane those things are nice. I have one but its a older version and not as good...but still works.

Just go to the arcade its better.
