There's this new thing..

It seems your mother has already found out about it.

It's going to revoutionize the way we live in our homes.

I think it's called a "heat-er".

My landlord turns it off for the summer season and he still hasn't turned it on yet.

That's fscked up though, I mean... how can your landlord.. turn off your heater?!?!

Isn't that like against the law or something? Do you get a rent reduction?

I have my furnace on, but only to keep the temp at ~62-65. I use my woodstove in the evenings to make it nice and toasty :) It would be fairly difficult to have a woodstove in an aparment though

The way heating bills are going this winter, it is going to make sense to buy fleece blankets, sleeping bags, etc. My wife and I bought lots of that stuff a couple years ago, mostly for camping.

Now with the overinflated heating bills that are coming, we have a little joke on the PG&E. We're simply gonna dress warmer and not even turn on the heat. We'll eat dinner by candle light, which by the way warms the air. :D

I usually put on some sweat pants and shirt. I keep the thermostat up enough to keep the pipes from freezing. I actually like cool weather.

Light bulbs put off more heat than candles do.

But I guess your point is that you're trying to save electricity, heh.

We haven't turned on the heater once in the 5 years we've lived here. It's oil fired, and we've never been able to afford heating oil.

We do have a craptacular wood stove though, so it gets you by.

It's not hard to find free or very cheap wood from woodmils around here.

Eli, Oregon is cool this time of year, at least in the Portland area. It's not freezing. I'm glad I don't live in Washington anymore. That would suck for cold. Body heat of two is a good kind of heat! :D
