Our local dragstrip St. Thomas Dragway is holding Mopar Day today and Sunday.

The weather was iffy but it turned out really nice by noon. Not as packed as last year, but pretty good.

I usually go to find parts and what not. I found several people restoring cars like my 1979 Lebaron, which is cool. There were lots of parts but not much for me. I did find one guy who had a load of parts at his business including a handful of 1968 - 70 B-body 8 3/4 rear axles that will fit my car. That was a major find as they are very hard to get around here locally. He said he may have the wheel center caps I am also looking for, too. I will find out more when I go to his business later this week. $300 for a complete axle assembly.

There was some very nice cars and some very fast cars today. I got a kick out of the '87 GLHS running 11's.

and yes, I took a bunch of pics today. And some videos too. I posted one video so far as well as the pics on flickr.

I also managed to get a sunburn on my arms and back of my neck, but nothing too serious.

all in all I had a good day.

all pics and video taken by me with my Cannon A580 Powershot camera.

Sweet... I love older Mopars. I had a '75 Duster and a '68 Barracuda similar to the one in your pics. It was a notch back, but it was green and no vinyl top.

lack of affordable musclecars.

Darts, Satellites, Challengers, etc are all but out of reach for the average person. The F, J and M body Mopars are the only things left.

A-bodies are still cheap too, and they are lightweight and fun.

not here. I saw a Dart for sale at the show. It was in a #4 condition. It needed a serious amount of fixing up. The guy wanted $5,000 for it. Nearby was a rust free 1979 Plymouth Caravel 2 door 318 car for $3500.

I paid $2000 for my rust free 1979 Lebaron 2 door 318 car.

Rust is a major problem here.

I understand. Maybe you should come down to the states where you can pick up a decent old mopar that needs some fixing up. Drive down to Kentucky or WV and you'll find plenty to choose from.

I bought my Duster in 1998 and sold it in 2002. When I bought it, I still have to have it emissions checked (less than 25 years old). The previous owner had put new rear quarters on it and given it a nice paint job. Otherwise it was just a well maintained, nearly loaded, Plymouth Duster driven by an older man. I paid $3650 for it (figured it was worth it for a car with 66,000 miles, new quarter panels and new paint), and I sold it for the same amount four years later. It had a slant 6 in it and I had no intentions of changing that.

I don't see cars in quite that condition going for that price anymore, but they aren't much more expensive, and with gas prices so high I think that there will be some people trying to unload them.

I would love to. Its a pain to get cars through customs.

its a rust free car from Texas.

here is the Caravel: http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/IronWoode/1979_caravel.JPG
