I know a girl who's allergic, and somehow got IV penicillin. Came very close to death, lost a lot of skin.

Dan Rather did a show on antibiotics, Penicillin can't be used on 50% of the bacteria it could be 20 years ago because of increasing resistance, from over-prescription.
I've been saying this is a problem for 20 years - we're seeing more infections with no antibiotics that help.
There's a new staph infection that kills 20,000 Americans a year.
I thought bronchitis was from a virus?
Bacteria must be pretty smart if it can learn to resist drugs. :hmm:
It is.
Do you not know how it works?
Nope, I'm not a scientist.
Yes, but I remember very little of it. :whiste:Have you taken a 7th grade health class?
Strep. pneumoniae is still usually sensitive though.
"Bronchitis" just means inflammation of bronchial tissue. It can be caused by virus, bacteria, fungi, etc.
Which has little or nothing to do with OP.
Someone just got an amoxicillin prescription for a yanked tooth he didn't use, so I used some of it. The pain did go away after a few days...
Mayo Clinic said:Not taking antibiotics exactly as prescribed also leads to problems. For example, if you take an antibiotic for only a few days instead of the full course the antibiotic may wipe out some, but not all, of the bacteria. The surviving bacteria become more resistant and can be spread to other people. When bacteria become resistant to first line treatments, the risk of complications and death is increased.
ahhh okey doke. Makes sense cause when I had it this past December, the doc wouldn't prescribe antibiotics. That was hell, took over 7-8 weeks before I got over it (plus 3 bouts with strep on top of that). Fuck this past winter
