I just got accepted to UC Irvine graduate school

They gave me a nice fellowship too, tuition is free and I get about $25,000 for living expenses if I TA for a few courses.

I was certain I wouldn't get in anywhere, but UCI just sent out their first round picks and I made their top list. This is great, I'm going to grad school!

I'm already there for undergrad. Being a physics TA = hosting a discussion, grading weekly quizzes, and grading finals.

Congrats, you are the kind of people that will help us invent the next round of New Physics. Hope you get started soon cus I want to be able to fly the speed of light already 😛

Congrats. But you do know that nearly all grad students (probably 98% and 2% reject it) get that "fellowship," right? Its definitely a larger stipend than i got years ago at berkeley. If you HAVE to be in so cal, Irvine is not too bad. Where else did you apply? What area of physics?

Isn't that what all TAs do?

Nice 🙂 I go there as an undergrad - I'm in the school of Engineering though 😉 Doesn't mean I didn't have to go through physics tho 😉 Like ed21x said - message me as well if you need any info or advice!

Now you get to enjoy 5-6 years of watching your former classmates who went to industry make 2-3 times more than you.

/me looks at major.

Oh wait, never mind.

Congratulations!

I went to UVA for my BS in physics. Was accepted to the Ph.D. program, but my health became critically worse (muscular dystrophy) and had to drop out and take it easy-or die. Oh well, at least there are people out there still interested in physics. Do well for us, okay?

That's exactly what my older brother is going for - PhD in Physics. So far, he's 6 for 7 and still waiting to hear from 1 or two more.

Anyway, congrats.
