i just got a hardware developer in a heap of trouble maybe even fired.

OutHouse

Lifer
background.

the hardware development dept will not buy her a workstation and made her bring in her personal laptop to work on. I know, i know this has our IT group pissed and we have bitched to our managers about it but to no avail.

so today we were doing something and we noticed a new workgroup on the network called "bitch"

we were like what the hell....

we open the workgroup and there is a computer by the name of "F*ckyou"

so after getting the MAC and tracking down the port we we traced it up to her machine. our director is pretty pissed not only at her but at the hardware dept.

classic example of why we should not let personal machines into the building.

PIC

doesnt sound like its really her fault. Sure, she could have renamed it, but she shouldnt have had to use her personal computer to begin with

that i agree with. if i got hired and after a week of no pc then was told that i would have to bring mine in i would have quit on the spot.

Why the hell would you hire someone and not give them a machine to work on? That's just asking for trouble with asking them to use their personal machine.

No joke. All kinds of other bad juju that could potentially happen outside of childish workgroup and pc names.

Stupid hardware developer. She should've just infected her machine with all sorts of spyware/viruses/etc and let it loose on the network. Would've been much more effective at getting the point across.

she did it. we did push trend out to to her laptop so that it had AV and it was not named f*ckyou and we most definatly did not have a workgroup named bitch on our network.

ill see if i can get a screenshot before the cache expires.

So you put a single AV program onto a personal computer before letting it on the network? Woah boy...
