I just got a $1000 Bike....FOR FREE

Also, even if I try to use them, my feet don't fit in the space.

I've been looking for other pedals but they all require special shoes...

Is it possible and if so, favorable for my situation to use ATB perdals?

Looks like it has a 600 ultegra rear hub. The toe clips are Campy. Anything else Campy on it?

Sew-ups are tires that have the tubes sewed into the tires, the tires are then glued onto the rims.

WTF? How the hell do you replace them?

I was wondering why the rires stayed on the rims even when they were flat(filled them up now).

Sure, the cranks use standard 9/16 thread pedals.

You CAN get pedals that are for road bikes that DON'T take special shoes.

Though clipless pedals are REAL nice once you get used to them.

So did I, but my bolt cutters are the reason, not a rich uncle. 😉

He's actually not rich. Cycling was his pashion so he saved up for it and use to rac(and was quite good at it). A recent hernia plus many hours of work prohibited him from doing what he love.

That's sweet. I just got new pedals for my Trek upstairs and noticed that the bolt sizes looked surprisingly similar.

Mind pointing me to a link for the pedals? I've only looked at the 'performance bikes' website as they have a store near me and that's all i know.

Thanks for the help by the way.

You peel them off and re glue new ones on.

You CAN cut the threads on the tire, patch the tube, re-sew them and glue them back on but it's a PAIN IN THE ASS!

Like I said, if they ARE sew-ups, you really SHOULD get new rims laced up and use clinchers.

(BTW: I build a SWEEET wheel if you want a set built up!) 😉

I use Velocity rims. IMO they are some of the BEST out there right now!

Or check Ebay for a set of good clinchers. You might ever concider selling the sew-up there as well.

damn I'm lazy. THe pedals on the new bike are adjustable but I thought they were still too small...jsut tried them wit ha shoe on and after a little effort(bending the metal a bit and loosening the straps) they are usable.

Stoping and yanking my feet out onto the ground is going to be interesting in emergencies😀

I'd love to but have NO MONEY right now....That was one of the reasons why I was giving up...I didn't ahve the money to fix the other bike.

this setup should suffice though, right?

<---uses trails that are kept clean of debris....

You want sew ups about as much as a well aimed kick in the crotch. Beg, or borrow (not nice to steal) and replace the wheels and tires ASAP

So, I have been very interested in biking, but ended throwing in the twel until I got a better bike or fixed the one I had.
Let me tell ya, peddling for 38miles on a Trek montian bike with monster treads is no fun and games. THe damn thing wouldn't even roll that far.....

I was very interested in seeing if my uncles (very very good friends of mine) could help me out as they had once been professional cyclists.

[sweet]One of my uncles ended up giving me his $1000 Vitus cycle becasue he couldn't use it anymore. [/sweet]

Gonna try it out tommorow.

P.S.

The front fork and tires were replaced a short time ago.

Fork $500
Tires $250/pair

This is gonna be fun

Hey a Vitus! That's a classic brand. It's a steel frame right?

Here

Unfortunately mine are metal so that's why they have to be replaced.

Those are inserts that go into you old pedals to make them more "standard"

Those are for LOOK pedals, are your pedals LOOK? TIME? Campy?

These are nice pedals

Actually that's what my pedals look like on the trek, except a larger.

Maybe I'll switch 'em tommow and try them out.

Just went for a ride in it..about 10miles...just a test in case something went wrong...

I was astounded at the varience in ride quality. The smoothness is amazing.

Only problem was the shifters. THis thing has some ghetto/retro shift levers and I kept forgetting whech lever controlled the main geears....many a time I got stuck on a hill after upshifting when i menat to downshift...
😀
