I always check pockets before I wash, but I didn't check the back pocket of some jeans. My girlfriend's passport was in one of the pockets. It is trashed. Now, we had to change her flight from this Saturday to Tuesday, and we've got to go to the Consulate in Atlanta on Monday to get her a new passport. Plus, she has to reapply for her visa now, because the US Government will not replace a damaged or destroyed visa. You have to reapply.

I've got classes on Monday and Tuesday, and I have to be there because there are some quizes and a review for an exam going on. Early next week is going to be hell for me.

You can get a passport overnight shipped to you IIRC. It's like an extra $70 or something though.

[kool aid man] Oh yeahhhhhh! [/kool aid man]

I can understand not checking pants pockets before washing; we've all done that. But how did she/you not go "where's my PASSPORT?" after getting back from the airport or wherever you had to use it?

Anytime I use any type of card or paperwork, I (OCD a little bit...) check my wallet/briefcase about 10X to make sure it's in there. When I get home, the first thing I do is put said important thing back in it's hiding place.

Dude...you slacked...and lost.

Back pocket of my jeans. She has to have her passport for ID anytime we drink because she doesn't have US ID. She didn't want to carry it in her purse last night, so she told me to put it in my pocket. I put it in my back pocket, and I only checked front pockets before I washed. Simply habit because I never put stuff in my back pocket. Doh!

No, we can't. It is not a US Passport, so we have to go to a consulate or embassy that will allow a new passport. We've already made an appointment in Atlanta for Monday because that's the closest one. Now we are getting her a new PIN in Bogota so she can apply for a new Visa.

She has to use it everywhere so it has gotten a bit routine to not freak out about its location. However, I've never lost my ID or Passport myself. I think it was a combination of it being hers and me not thinking about it, and that it was in my back pocket instead of a front. If it would have been in a front pocket I would have found it.

Sorry to hear of your woes, Mill. :( You're a good guy; I know you'll take care of it. It is YOUR JOB now, you know. ;)

Exactly. She started to cry and I had to calm her down and do all those "things" to fix it. I felt like trash when the tears started flowing. There is no manly defense against the tears of a woman. You can only hunker down and ride it out. :p

I love OT. The land where only the OP has ever done anything wrong and the responders all walk on water.

Um... why was her passport in the back pocket of your jeans?

Or... why was her jeans in your washer?

;)

LOL! I agree! I've seen bones poked out of skin and intestines hanging out and grown men crying like babies...doesn't phase me.

But when the little woman starts crying (especially if it's my fault) I don't know what the hell to do!

They cry for a minute...then they make sure to make eye contact and say something like :

You have no idea how punctured my heart is right now!...I've never felt so cold in my life!...How can you SAY that when you KNOW how I feel about you!...How can you be SO insensitive when I love you so much!....WHAAAAAAAAAAAA!

:Q

And I just freak out...
