DAMN IT!!!!! Pretty much what the title says.... ITS TOAST!!!!! And what really pisses me off...... I had L1 bridges crossed fine..... GlodalWin FOB38 heatsind/fan and Artic Silver II on a Abit kt7a RAID mobo. Blah. It was a 1.0 gig w/ 266 FSB. Blah.... I'm angered.... and the thing that pissed me off..... it posted fine at 1.13 and the at 1.2.... DEAD!!!!! Welll at least I'll finally get to some study time in

I think my mobo is f'd up..... the same thing happened to my first Duron.... can't remember at what settings that it happened at but i just remember that it shouldn't have fried on what the settings were.....

Did it smoke or emit any odors? If it has then I wouldn't even bother with it, but otherwise undo the bridge and re-test it at rated speed.

Unless you smell smoke or burnt silicon, I'd reserve judgment.

I overclocked my 1.4 T-bird to 1.5 fine, 1.6 fine, but 1.65, and it up and died on me. Couldn't even get back to the bios to clock it back down. So, I changed some jumpers on the board and that did nothing. Finally, I just took off the HSF and the CPU altogether, hoping that would reset the timings, and lo and behold it came back at 1.4, and it's working great now, o/c'ed to 1.58.

yea dude, you'd be surprised the things that those t-birds and duron's will do, they'll mess with you i tell you. Give the suggestions that have been given a try, I wouldn't be surprised if the bird is still fine..

Ah ha! That's the problem. The Arctic Silver is supposed to go between the CPU and the heatsink. :Q

J/K -- Seriously, too bad about your CPU. You may want to check the voltage setting in the CMOS. Also, some boards have jumpers that override the CMOS voltage setting. Or, as you said, your mobo may just be fautly.

w00t w00t... just fixed my machine yesterday.... all i had to do was get some thermal grease, and reseat the proc. Thanks alot for everyone who helped!!!
