this is a middle game, like halo2, where nothing actually happens. did you notice that all you do is 1)find the underground and then 2) try to rescue people and 3) didnt really get much done at all.

well first of all, that's an amazing game, I'm having hard time figuring out which one was the best I've ever palyed, this one, or far-cry...

Anyway, there I am blasting Dr. Breene (or whatever's name is), and then there's a big explosion, or actually the beginning of it, Alyx is gonna fry, and then this dork with a suitcase comes out, and tells me that I know what happens next...
I'm like WTF?! No, I don't know what happens next... but the next thing that happens is the credits start rolling, and I'm like, you gotta be sh!tting me man!

what did I miss, and what de hell is going on?

Did you ever play Half-Life 1?

EDIT: I see that you did not. In that case, no sympathy for you.

Do your homework or sufffer.

For those who didn't play HL1, do it, you're missing out.

And OFF TOPIC -

How much $$$ did HL2 end up making for Valve, anyway?

I dunno. You just deal a huge blow to the Combine. Given that Earth has been taken over by the Combine I'd suppose they are pretty happy. I'm assuming that Gordon has done enough so that the Combine falls completely. Like that site says, HL3 will likely involve the Combine trying again or hmm, it could be something totally different, something I dont even know about..

I'd love to see HL3 (or Halo3 for that matter) take the battle to the alien homeworlds. And not that crappy jumping all over floating islands universe in HL1, I'm talking alien cities, mass transit, alien vehicles to use, stuff like that. HL2 was great because there was more interaction, more people to work with, I'd like to see that again in HL3 but in a totally different (non-earth) setting.

if you havnt played HL1 then play it ffs, the game is outstandingly amazing
then replay HL2......not quite so good in my opinion, but thats only cuz 1 was unbeatable for doing it all first. (mainly talking about pulling you into it, not anything specific like graphics or whatever)

looking forward to Aftermath like i did OpFor and BS as something to enjoy, but HL3 will be the real deal hopefully and finish things off nicely...

oh and as for people who moan about end of game bosses and endings....ffs, have you seriously known any game to have a truly satisfying eog boss/ending? be honest, they rarely are that great, its the journey to them thats satisfying.....bit like chasing girls, fun to do, but once u catch one it just nags in your ear all day long...heh

;-)

LOL... I found this funny for some reason.

Yep. GMan no longer commands respect like he used to. 😉

they should definatley make a porno involving a lot of her too...id buy it
Sad bastard.

Yeah I thought the ending was a little bit poo... jumping on moving blocks is so HL1. GMan also does my head in, talking in riddles or whatever he does. We better be able to have a head to head fight with him on airboats/quad bikes/buggies/whatever with him in HL3. I've always wanted to shoot him in the head.

Annoyingly in both HL1 and 2 there's times when if you know where he'll appear you can get a few shots in, but you can't kill the slimey git.

Going off on a totally separate tangent, did you guys watch all the previews from E3 and all that before HL2 came out? Do you remember some enemy creature that was translucent blue with tentacles of sorts?
I remember one scene where you're talking to alex and suddenly she looks shocked and looks behind gordan. As he turns around there's some soldier about to shoot you. Suddenly this blue tentacle thing goes through his chest, smacks him against the floor and pulls him away...

Maybe we'll see this in HL3! I read they cut out loads from HL2.

This was explained in the Collectors Edition. Apparently, it was taking too much resources to incorporate the tentacle monster, so it was simply left out. I felt kinda cheated because like you said, it was in all the hoopla leading up to the release.

Yeah, I remeber thinking how I can't be near the end throughout the game as was expecting to encounter this thing at some stage.
What do you mean by consuming too mucch resource? as in graphics resources or manpower resources to write this thing into the game?
