Lol. $53 dollars is what I was paying to fill the Civic from a quarter tank not too long ago.

The government is already starting to freak out about the low gas prices. I'm bracing for another big increase in the next Budget. Gotta keep those civil servants working. $100,000/yr isn't a lot of money these days, which was a serious actual statement made by the ruling party not too long ago.

They mentioned something on the news about every .01 decrease in gas equals something like $1B in consumer spending. Not like anyone puts the difference into savings so I'm sure it goes back into the economy.

Every year, the local media puts out the "Sunshine List". It's a list of civil servants in Ontario making $100k and over. It's ballooned under the current administration. The government recently chose to attack the list, saying that the base figure should be adjusted for inflation. Essentially that $100k wasn't what it used to be when the list was first started, and that was the reason for the huge increase in bureaucrats making that much. Meanwhile, the average income is $48k, and unemployment has been increasing. The government of Ontario is pretty much broke from years of over spending and pork barreling. With the gas tax revenue dropping, they're already talking about implementing a carbon tax to offset those losses.

Anyway, apologies for going off on a tangent. :\

I filled up last weekend and it cost me $35. Great thing about that is I can go 550 miles on a tank of gas.

The 1%ers are going nuts talking about how the economy is going to crash and how badly low oil is hurting the country. Sigh...maybe they should have saved some money during the last 10 years....god forbid anyone else have some extra cash laying around.

I have seen a few stories about how its bad for the economy, its just amazing what they print. I also have a feeling low prices will not last.

Apparently we were the lowest in the country for a couple days... I even saw $1.89 at a few stations near my house.

Wow! That is fantastic! I'm not sure we will ever get that low here, though it seems to be dropping a few cents every few days. Down to $2.45 here now.

hope they raise the gas tax. disgusted at how many gas guzzling suvs have been sold in the past month in my area. People never learn their lesson about fuel prices. Be nice if they'd make the fuel tax flexible so that the price of fuel would stay stable @ $5.
