Funny, isn't it?

You'd wonder how the human race survived all this time with that big tanning lamp in the sky for millions of years.

Simplistic people don't understand the term, "it's the dose that makes the poison."

ya i guess the fake bake is the wtg if you want to be tan NOW.
The lamps in a tanning bed will give off considerably more radiation than just standing outside in the sun for 10 minutes. Not to mention that you get an even tan over your body, without having to turn over.

I haven't tanned (outside or otherwise) since I was a teenager, but if you want a darker look, I can see one would fake n bake rather than go outside.

I got a month long, unlimited tanning gift certificate as a gift 😛 It was weird, because the sign-in list had like 50 girls on it, and one guy 😱

It wasn't too bad - I was going to go nekkid, but decided against it once i got there (The thought of radiation on my kibbles and bits didn't sound too fun 😛 Not only that, but I don't know who else's ass had been on that thing). I just left my boxers on, but pullled them up and pushed the waist down.

The whole time I was being bombarded with radiation, the room smelt like buttered popcorn - I was beginning to wonder if I would pop after a few minutes 😛

I tanned for only 7 minutes, and now my whole body feels warm. I'm going to go back in two days.

Anyone else fake and bake? 😛

There's a joke in there somewhere.... Where's Brutuskend?

😛

Oh, and since when did you start worrying about ass... 😉

I thought you had a mixture of the cooking dough and cooked it 😛

I suppose if I was really white I'd just stay outside more then I already do and tan a bit. But I'm already tanned so no need for that, but I get darker noticebly in the summer though. What we call 'Summer' in England anyway 😛

The average life span of our ancestors was around 40 years due to the harshness of life. This didn't give time for cancer to develop even if they had leatherskin from being in the sun too much. In addition the evidence indicates that today the ozone layer and other atmospheric protections are begining to fade and at the very least are weaker. This increases the exposure to the harmfull rays.

So there is a two fold problem, your lifespan is double that of your predecessors and you are exposed to more radiation on a day to day basis. The "dose makes the poison", you just get it in smaller incriments over longer periods of time.

Hell no.. I know you got a free pass and all, but why do people pay for that type of thing when the Sun is FREE!!

Yep, i tan occasionally. I don't like the bed tans, so i've been paying a bit more for the stand and tans. It's quicker, and i don't have to lay down on other people's sweat. I've been contemplating going with the spray tans... the ones where you walk into a booth, and they spray you with coloring lotion. But those are EXPENSIVE. Up here, a normal bed tan costs around $5-6. Stand up booth tan costs about $8-10. And the spray tans, about $15.

Same reason why some people run on a treadmill rather than run outside. And why somebody would do take out pizza rather than make their own. Convenience. Outside tanning, you need to find a spot, sit in the sun for an hour, and you can't tan the tan lines. This takes under 10 mins, and you don't need to bring a backpack of stuff when you go... infact, all i go in with is my wallet and keys... towels, candy, music, lotion (for extra of course), etc is all provided.

i fake bake because i like to feel warm in the cold Michigan winters, and i fake bake before i go on vacation so i dont burn in the Hawaiian sun. (we did that once and it was the most painful thing i have ever experienced).
I asked my dermatologist and he said that its not great to go to tanning salons, but its better than getting burned outside.
