Plus it creeps me out that he married his (adopted) daughter, who also happens to be 35 years younger than him.

not as bad as hefner sleeping with many girls who are 50+ years younger all the time, when it comes to age.

the adopted daughter part is a bit weird, but not as bad as second cousins in <insert a state that's west to yours>.

i like bananas, that film gave Stallone his big break after his porno, supposely...

If you saw movies like Husbands and Wives, Interiors, Match point, and Crimes and Misdemeanors, hell yes, they aren't funny much because they aren't meant to be.

Anway, I find his funny movies to be damn funny. One thing about his jokes is that many people don't understand them at all. But for those of who gets them, they're damn funny usually.
I mean, the guys can make amazing jokes out of philosophy!

His serious movies are damn good as well. Very thoughtful and well laid out.

Woody Allen is a genius, even if his movies are uneven (not too surprising since he makes one a year). The early Allen movies are just side-splitting, and Manhattan and Annie Hall are appropriately considered two of the best films of the 1970s (the latter won Best Picture, but to me Manhattan is the better movie). His more recent movies are not as strong but he has made some great ones in recent years, including Match Point and Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

All of that said, he is a creepy guy and I don't condone the whole Soon-Yi thing. I am just willing to separate the man from the art, and he is among the most talented, most prolific modern filmmakers.

Personally I think Manhattan is the best movie he's made to date. Play it Again Sam is another of my favorites.

Being it was his daughter, that's the creepiest part of it. I can get by the age factor (as long as she isn't a minor) more easily. So I don't view Hefner as worse than Allen in this respect.

The genius part, to me, is that this guy has managed to get a career where he can make any film he wants to, doesn't have to deal with the Hollywood machine, and can afford to live in exotic places. If you've ever tried to get a movie made, you understand what I'm saying here.

It's a tough question. He has made some really great movies, but most of his movies are meh. It's like the wife in westerns defending the cabin with a shotgun. Some of the shot is going to hit the bad guys, but most of it misses.

I like a few of his movies. I really, really enjoyed Vicky, Christina, Barcelona.
