Protest
Would someone like to explain how this was supposed to make a point? I just don't get what they are trying to do by protesting like this. I am constantly reminded why I hate people.
EVANSTON, Illinois (AP) -- Students upset by a spate of hateful graffiti on walls at Northwestern University protested Tuesday by wearing black and refusing to speak during classes.
Several student groups organized the demonstration in response to writings and drawings that have included swastikas, an anti-Semitic phrase, racial slurs and a depiction of a lynching.
The graffiti began appearing last spring and continued into last weekend.
Minority students were asked to participate in the protest, but all students were asked to wear black and attend a rally Wednesday on the 17,000-student campus north of Chicago.
University spokesman Alan Cubbage said police are investigating the graffiti but have no leads. There is a $2,500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved.
University president Henry Bienen sent an e-mail to all students and faculty.
"I condemn these acts as strongly as I can. These actions are offensive to the entire Northwestern community and will not be tolerated."
