upon impact the head of the bullet flattens out,
Thus causing much more damage as it penetrates.

Imagine this. You shoot something and the bullet goes in one side and out the other. There is a hole all the way through what you shot, but unless you hit something vital it is still alive, although in pain. That hole through it doesn't cover much of the volume, so chances are you didn't hit anything important. Also most of the energy in the bullet left when the bullet exited the other side.

Now imagine a bullet that either fragments or expands somehow on impact. That bullet isn't just going straight though. Much more volume is covered during its path through the body. also a lot more energy is imparted from the bullet to the body causing considerably more damage.

Any of various related mammals of Asia, especially Mustela eversmanni of central Asia.

Actually, upon impact a hollowpoint bullet will mushroom becoming about twice it's original diameter. This is much more devastating to soft tissue than a FMJ bullet. The bullet will impart almost all of it's energy to the target rather than passing through it.

OK, I'll give him a percentage. My clothes are burning in the trash barrel, I am out three hollowpoints and I won't have any friends for a while.
On the plus side you can call Cletus and tell 'em you're gonna be eatin' fine tonight!
