..and the first thing I thought was, "Wow, that's a really clean cut! This is a good knife!" :Q
Then I spent a few minutes examining the cut with a 10X eyepiece to see just how clean it was. Until the blood got sticky, very clean. This is my favorite knife!
Do those thoughts seem wierd to anyone else? Crud, getting blood on my keyboard. :)

Not any more than lighting yourself on fire and posting about it, I recall those threads here as well.

Heh, I once was trying to pry two beef and bean burritos apart and sliced my hand from the base of my thumb to the base of my pinky. BAD!!!

I immediately wrapped it in a towel and began calling 911, but stupidly stopped and called my mom instead.

Long story short, I passed out and ruined the living room carpets with a LARGE puddle of blood. I almost lost my hand and was unable to use it for two months afterwards. BUT, there was one bright spot in the story!!! I made my mom save the burritos and later a couple months later I nailed them to a tree and blew the hell out of them with a 12 gauge shotgun.

Good burritos!

I almost severed my left index finger off. Only thing that kept it on was some small pieces of cartilidge/gristle, and some remaining skin. Doctors did a wonderful job of reattaching it, although I would have preferred it be grafted onto my forehead or some wierd spot. :)

~{Ponders a finger attached to his forehead}~

I hurt myself seriously 3 times:
1- I put a pencil thru my hand... straight thru.... even have a small indent where it went thru

2- I cut a major gash in my hand from the tip of my finger down to the wrist, with a knife while trying to cut a bagle in half... needed 16 stitches to close the wound

3- I fell off my bike (bicycle.. not motorcycle) while trying to avoid a squirrel.. i hit a tree root and fell into a pile of broken glass... cut open my knee.. have permanent scars... 40+ stitches.

I just took a chunk out of my knuckle by catching it on a very sharp piece of plastic while doing the dishes.

Got out of finishing them though because it was bleeding pretty bad :D

Oh rough.
Got myself like that many times with the henkle kitchen knives.
Never feel it, just see it bleed.

Last year in a baseball game, I was playing third base. A runner on the other team tried to steal my coveted base (I'll be damned if I was going to let him!) Anyways, he's barreling towards me, I receive the ball from the catcher and sweep down to tag to end the base theivery once and for all. I was attempting to get my bare (right) hand into my glove to hang onto the ball better but it didn't quite make it there before the now-sliding runner's metal cleats found their way into the back of my hand. I got the bastard out for the third out of the inning and wheeled to run back to the dugout. I didn't even know my hand was cut at that point. I was second to bat, so when I went to put my batting gloves on, I noticed my hand was bleeding profusely. Blood had run all the way down my fingers and was dripping onto my pants and the ground. It was not a pretty site. To make it worse, my hand went into shock or something like that, and I couldn't close it to make it a fist. Unfortunately, the coach wouldn't let me bat and he took me out of the game. Apparently, that's how you pay back guys who sacrifice themselves for the good of the team. :|

Anyways, I went to the doctor after the game to have the cut cleaned up and all that, and the doctor almost freaked out on me. He told me that the two places the cleats entered my hands were about .25 inches from the tendons controlling my index and middles fingers. So, basically, had my hand been .25 inches to the right, those tendons would have been severed and the whole situation would have been a whole lot worse. Amazingly though, it didn't hurt at all. I also have the scars to prove it! :D

Well I was an idiot with a pocket knife in my younger years... I ended up almost totally cutting off my tip of my pointer finger on my right hand... I don't rememeber what I was doing.

My brother was cutting carpet in the attic with a razor blade (we were making an attic fort). Well he sliced his left handed thumb right down the middle... he said the worst past wasn't that he cut it so badly and the blood... it was the shot they had to inject directly into the cut later at the hospital...

paruhd0x, my father's been doing flooring for a while now, and he did something similar with a razor, he sliced right on the edge of where your thumb's fingernail begins pretty deeply. He didn't go to the hospital for it either, they were up in NH, and the nearest hospital was like an hour drive, and he had to finish the job - she he was screwed :) He has his thumb to this day, so he's fine ;)

Not any more than lighting yourself on fire and posting about it

This must be the only online community who, in the event of an emergency, would post about it before calling 911.

I acciedently ground two of my knuckles to the bone when I fell playing roller-hockey one time. I was at first kinda like, cool ... bone. Then I realized the game was continuing without me, so I grabbed my gloves and actually put them on and continued playing. The nest day though, it hurt like all hell, I was almost crying.

I ran into a barbwire fence when I was 5 running about 35mph on my 4-wheeler. The steel fencepost stopped it cold, while it threw me through the fence and I flied thru the air for quite a distance. The post broke my collarbone, the fence cut a hold in my cheek, cut across my jugular vein, anmd scratched my face a little. Hardly any scars left now 16 years later. :)
