So there was a pepper in my antipasta salad, and I thought it was a sweet pepper. I bit the whole thing off, only to quickly discover that it was some kind of jalapeno or some other spicy pepper.(since when does the italian/greek diet have spicy peppers in it?) In my shock I started to choke on it, and ended up swallowing part of it "down the wrong pipe", and got some up into my nasal passage.

Now every time I clear my throat or breathe through my nose my entire sinus area and throat feel like they are on fire.

This really sucks. It's been about an hour now and no signs of improvement.

edit: It's like some horrible version of acid reflux. Only about 100x more painful.

Hahahahaha yeah, pretty good. That would be horrible. I would say wash your lungs out with water but somehow I think that might make it worse. :hmm:

well, that sounds pretty damn sucky. I have a bad habit of somehow getting food up into my nasal passage. I sneeze a lot, so I guess this just happens when chowing down.

I hate it when i sneeze out corn. :( I also tend to rub my eyes after chopping chili peppers. I just forget. then it's like wowowow owwwww for a minute or two. I've done it so often, though, I'm just used to it now. Can't imagine sucking up a pepper though. yikes.

Netti pot with a basic mixture like milk would probably help. Or baking soda and water.

milk in your sinus cavities? D: doesn't sound very sterile. I'd be afraid of bacteria and shit getting a nice foothold.

so that didn’t cause aspiration or anything? because it was so spicy? just wondering because i feel like some dorito dust went down the wrong pipe and it’s kinda scary
