I just can't listen to rock/metal anymore...

Rock/Metal just doesn't do it for me anymore. In fact, I grew up on Metallica, Slayer, Led Zepplin and so on.. All the classic bands. In my opinion, rock/metal has lost it rebelness (sp?) that made it so appealing.

So what am I listening to...

Fabalous, 50 cent, Tupac, and Dre.

And how about 50 cent:

"We roll around with guns the size of little bow wow."

In fact, that new 50 cent single is the sh!t!

So if I had a choice between listening to Fabalous and Led Zepplin, I'm picking my boy...

"Holla Back Youngen, whoo hoo.."

I have heard one 50 cent song and it had the dumbest lyrics I have ever heard placed over a crappy beat.

Rap is the disco of the 90s and 2ks... it just seems to have lasted longer.

How long have you been saying that?

The fact is that rap is a form of music that will be around for a LONG time. It isn't a fad.

Maybe you're listening to the wrong stuff. What metal/rock bands have you tried and hated?

Hate is to strong of a word. I've gotten burned out on it all. I've listened to everyone from Aerosmith to Zepplin. I've listened to it all. All rock/metal...

Rap has been around since the 80's. 🙂

Anyway, I'm not really impressed with any rock I've heard lately. I've also noticed that the art of the guitar solo doesn't exist at all anymore.

I have years to go back on, having only just got interested in metal/rock.

Might not be mainstream tastes, but so far I like Nightwish, Hammerfall and Helloween, mainly bands from Europe. Don't like the other stuff like nu-metal and that crap.
Some Hammerfall stuff sounds like it's right from the 70's, Helloween did a cover of a song by a band from the 70's/80's. To me it's all good fun.

You're listening to the wrong music then. I would recommend downloading some Doubledrive, TK421 (may have to go to MP3.com for that one), Ra. Lesser known rock bands with hard, melodic music.....and guitar solos! And with a modern Rock sound - not these 30-something losers trying to hang on to the Poison sound.

So seriously, what are considered good rock metal bands these days? I got burned out on crap radio music and haven't heard anything good (IMO) in a while...at least nothing on the order of a Metallica, Megadeth, Gun-N-Roses, SoundGarden, Nirvana, etc. All I hear is what I call "Dawson's Creek Rock" and Pearl Jam imitators.

Don't forget: The whistle go WOOO WOOO, know what I'm sayin'? But that's only in the morning...

Let me introduce you to the wonder that is Joe Satriani. It's mostly instrumental, but what this guy can do with an electric guitar defies imagination. His music is very uplifting and full of emotion. I'm sure you will love it.

You can find plenty of Joe Satriani MP3's via your favorite file sharing program. But if you enjoy it - and I'm sure you will - definitely purchase his CD's. My favorites are: Surfing with a Alien, Extremist, Time Machine, and Flying in a Blue Dream.

Thank me later.

Classic Rock is still my favorite genre, and I believe it always will be.

Rap = teh suck IMO. I only like 3 or 4 songs out of all the ones I have heard (which is quite a bit, believe me).

New Rock can be decent, but for the most part doesn't compare with the best from classic rock.

Classical is great to listen to when you just want to relax or do homework.

Country = teh suck as well😛 Except for Willie Nelson. For some reason I really like him.

Blues is alright, but I don't think I'd put it on that much.

Jazz I don't like.

80's type music is alright, but gets boring quick.

Techno is good every once in a long while, like blasting it while cleaning the house, but how could you listen to it all the time?

That is my rundown off the top of my head. Probably missed a few categories.

Has Joe Sat released anything recently? I can remember growing up listening to him and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Incidently, I moved to Texas the same week that Stevie Ray died...was really sad.
