I just built my first system!

Congratulate me! I did it without frying any parts! Yay me! 🙂

Seriously, though, nothing major, but I now am the proud owner of the following specs:

Duron 1GHz on an Abit KT7A mobo
256 MB PC133 SDRAM
40 GB Maxtor HDD
Geforce 2 MX 400
Sound Blaster Audigy X-Gamer

Future upgrades will have me migrating my LG Electronics CDRW drive into this system, as well as adding a DVD player and a Linksys 10/100 ethernet card. Those will have to wait for a while, though. A paycheck only stretches so far. 🙂

congrats. nothing beats the feeling of building a comp yourself.

Now try not to get addictted to upgrading computer parts... it can be an expensive addiciton 🙂

Congrats! Glad to hear someone had a good experience building one because I start building my 1st this Friday! A duallie at that! 😀
Good luck with tuning it and I will post soon to make you all jealous, mwuhahahaha. 😛

Damn you!! #@$%#$ @#$@#$ 234$@#$@#!!

I have built 3 systems and really enjoy doing it. Nevertheless, each time has been frought with issues from bad PSU's to incompatible sound cards, etc...

One of these days, I will get one done trouble free first time... :|

Congrats to you though! 😉

Congrats on your new baby, there is truly nothing sweeter than the sound of that first beep 😀

How did you get it going without a floppy drive?? LOL, just kidding, great job. The only problem now is that you will never stop. Make sure you visit the hot deals forum. 😀

<< Congrats on your new baby, there is truly nothing sweeter than the sound of that first beep 😀 >>

Yes, but my first beep was several beeps. 😛

Good job -- it's so nice not to have to settle for whatever mix of parts someone else thinks you should buy, and to be able to upgrade part-by-part when it makes sense. You'll never go back to "gettin' a Dell" again 🙂

A great amount of pride goes along with building them yourself. Be careful of offering to build others' computers, though. They're a pain in the @$$ to support... they come running at you with every tiny little problem.
