I just built a ASUS K7N266-e/Duron 1GHz system

Nice, very easy build. Virtually no difficulties. I first installed a beta version of XP given me by a coworker. Looks nice, I liked the multi user capabilities, but did not like the distain it had for the other Win98 se systems on my network, also it did not want to share HDs easily. The 180 license also was a turn off, so I am now back to 98se.

I currently have only a single stick of DDR in the system so am not getting the full memory bandwidth. An additional 128Mb will be a early upgrade. I am using the onboard video, but have not installed any games yet to compare with my 1.2GHz Tbird/ Via 266a/ GF2 GTS system. That shoud be interesting.

I can guarantee you right now. Your GTS will blow the new system out of the water especially when using only one DIMM. Even with 2 identically sized DIMM's, the GTS will be significantley faster. But though, that's a decent system and should oc well with good DDR

I'll bet you are correct. Since I am not an online FPS person I think it will sever us pretty well, Heck I am still running 2 TNT2 M64 Cards! Perhaps that should be the comparison!

Same boat with you. A7N266-e is a great board for the average user. Not to say you're average..I mean hey, I don't even know you 🙂

Well, I just loaded and played a bit of American Magee's Alice. Wow. compared to what I was playing it on before (500 Mhz celeron/ABIT PB6/ GF2 GTS it is a LOT smoother. I am very happy!

Average user? perhaps a bit more then average, but certianly not a heavy duty gamer!
