yea but shaving would cause the hair come back in a stubble. and the hair that grows back will be hard. But tweezing or waxing where hair is pulled out from the root will cause that hair to come back softer

Why pay someone who doesn't know that a saying isn't literal in the meaning of "overnight" by definition. That?d be a huge waste of money. It wasn?t even my original point. I asked why people just automatically believe everything Snopes says. Not that they are right and wrong in this instance, but it seems a lot of people believe Snopes.

FYI: The Barbara Mikkelson at the bottom of the article is a housewife that started the web site with her husband.

Probably based on the same criteria we use for most things we read: it sounds plausible, and it appears they have confirmed it with plausible sources. Most of us don't have the time or energy to follow up everything we read to make sure it's legit, but if something has been held up to public scrutiny for a considerable amount of time and hasn't been roundly denounced we tend to assume it's trustworthy. It's not like there's much at stake anyway. I'm not about to go around avoiding big shocks so my hair doesn't turn white, it's more of an entertaining read than anything else.

that and you can apply an inhibitor cream that will help slow down hair regrowth.. but that only works if the root and all has been removed. the creams prevent the hair root from regrowing..

this stuff about it coming back softer is really true?? I have horribly thick and nappy facial hair and I'd give anything to make my goatee soft. I might need to try this

Why does everyone trust Snopes?

They offer no scientific proof or data on that page. At the bottom of the page they have "source", which includes a bunch of references to newspaper articles. They don't even note which myth the reference is the source.

They say this is a myth: " A sudden shock can turn a head of hair grey overnight"

But then they say that someone who's hair would have gone grey quickly anyway is subjected to horrible news, this is a coincidence? They use Barbara Bush as an example. Her child died and she went grey within a month. But they are saying this is just a coincidence? She was going to go grey anyway at a very rapid rate?!?!? LOL. How the fuck is that proof of anything.
You're just chopping off dead hair. The follicles extrude hair of a certain thickness. What happens to it beyond that - shaved, braids, cornrows, whatever - doesn't affect it. It's like taking an aluminum rod, freshly extruded from a manufacturing machine, cutting it in half,
and expecting the next rod to be thicker.

Where did I say anything about cutting hair and it being thicker? Reading comprehension much?

my point was "FYI" = For Your Information. I'm sure not many people knew that. She was a housewife that started snopes with her web developer husband if I remember correctly.

It's called an informative post. Understand now??!?

But that hurt like hell, I tried an epilator, more than one. Couldn't take the pain. And I even tried it after finishing a 12pk of beer.

it does hurt... not too bad though. its a quick pinch. some hairs come out easy, some almost bring the tweeze to its knees, where its more of an unsuccessful yank than a successful pull.. but i've had a semi hairy back (not like an ape, just patches of hair that could pass as pubes on my back)... so it feels good to have it gone and also have a process I can do at home to keep it this way. plus I dont have to worry about razor burn or it coming back as stubble...

Unless they make it on a stick so I can reach my back, I don't think its going to work on my back. :p

The Epilator was extremely painful and left blood when it yanked hairs out.

A month is not overnight.

No.Way. Tell me more. Your wisdom is awe inspiring.

Okay. "No" is not a sentence. Neither is "Way". Also, they're dispelling the myth that you could wake up literally the next morning with a full head of gray hair.

NO. WAY. PLEASE.TELL.ME.MORE!!!!!

Does that mean I can't LITERALLY beat your ass within an INCH of your life?

NO.WAY.

Translation: I-I-lost the argument! I therefore must resort to threats to ensure my dominance.

I mean get it waxed! That's way to long. The price of wasing and the batteries will even out.

How did you reach all the areas of your back, tape it to a stick?

actually tonight, im going to have my roommate check my back for any areas I missed..

im pretty flexible though. and most of the parts that were bad (actual patches of hair that could be over an inch long) i could reach.

but this thing even pulled out peach fuzz.

OK, I will pay you $20 for video of your roommate pulling hairs out of your back.

That's one hell of a roommate.

"yeah, saw ur ad on craigslist. i wud be into using that tweeze device on ur back. how about $25? but i want 2 wear a pony costume and i get 2 keep the hair, k?"
