I just bought a blue case w/ a window... help me find some fans!

Hey guys I want to buy some blue LED fans for my new blue/windowed chieftec. I am looking for quality here. For some reason all I can find in blue are generic fans with X CFM / X dBa listings. I am going to be running an Epox8rda+ w/ 2100+ 'B' and plan on OC'n on air so keep that in mind when giving suggestions. I want this thing to be as quiet as possible while still providing ample cooling. The HS I am going to use is the SLK-800.

THANKS!

I hear you about those cheap ones. They do not put our the airflow they advertise.

For one that does I suggest this 34cfm Antec one. I've compared it to the othe no-name led fans and it does cool the best. 😉

However if you have several in a case it does get a bit noisier. I use a sunbeam rhoebus to help with that though.

Another idea is to use a 92mm blue led fan on the SLK800. I used one on mine before and it did well. Wasn't noisy either. SVC sells them. It's a no-namer. 😀

Hey Blade thanks for the reply. This is the first time I've ever tried to light up a case so maybe you or one of the others can help me out with this question. How many blue fans will be too much if I also put in a cathode or two? I'm sure the cathodes will be much more vibrant and may drown out any fan effects other than if someone is looking directly at it from the side. I could be wrong and wouldn't mind being told so 😛

Thanks,

The cathodes will drown out the light from the fans, but you can still see them. Depending on the placement of course.

I have 2 blue led fans in the lower front as intake, 2 as exhaust in the rear and I also have 2 blue cathodes. 😀 I have them all connected to the rhoebus. With the cathodes off the fans give off a nice soft blue glow. I've found just using the light from the fans in the daytime is good. At night to get a better blue glow I turn on the cathodes. Cathodes do show up far better then of course.

I like having them all. But, I like blue. 😀

On these LED fans, are the lights always on? My friend wants me to build him a computer soon, and he wants the LED fans, and was wondering if the lights can be turned off.

no the leds cannot be turned off on the fans unless the fan itself is turned off. but if u had a rheobus then you can dim the leds so they arent as bright if thats what your concerned about.

you can get some neon paints that glow under a UV light, paint the fan blades and put in a UV Cold cathode tube and have it looking sweet, that way you can buy basically any fan if you wanted a quiet fan like the Panaflo L1A or Vantec Stealth fans.

Here's a thermaltake blue led fan that has pretty good ratings (21dba, 27.8CFM). This is more or less a Stealth with the blue leds. Link. I had though of getting some of these but decided I didn't really care to light up my case.

Yah I was looking at that fan too man. It might be neat that it flashes red whenever the HD is accessed... then again it might be extremely annoying 😉

On a completely different note here guys, do any of you know of a good place to shop for different colored keyboards? I already have the MX700 and plan on getting a black LCD but am wondering where I might find a blue/black keyboard of good quality. Hell, even if you know of places that do extremely crazy stuff to keyboards (like in 'Hackers') that will work as well.

The UV suggestion sounds promising as I'm not sure exactly how much I want to spend for an LED fan 😛
