That's what I was saying, until this came along so early. By the time it hits $299 your current card will have depreciated more than it has to date, so, in the end, you're only saving a few bucks.

BTW, Monday is the estimated shipping date. I have it too. We'll see though.
 
i have a 6800 gt now. how much faster is the 7800 gt. i guess i can sell my 6800 and buy the 7800 with about $100 out of my pocket. should i go for it?
 
Yes, estimated ship date, by in my experience they are early, not late. I am pumped, but I have no mobo or processor to go with it. I'll be looking for some stuff cheap though, that wasn't cash I wasn't counting on spending 😛
 
Just ordered mine for $340 ($360+ shipped w/tax). Figured this is a pretty sweet deal and I can still get good money for my x800xl, so it should be a good upgrade for minimumal cash output. I was going to get a 7800gtx, but for similar performance and over $100 cheaper this seemed like a logical choice......until the R520 comes out anyway and I need to check it out.
 
Actually, the lady at Dell said it would be shipped by the 15th or before which just plain rocks in my boat 😀 I have the CPU on its way from Ewiz now, so just to find a nice NF4 board for cheap and I will be set!

You know they said the same thing to those who ordered the Radeon 8500s when the frist came out. Most of us didn't get them till that December. :|

Nvidia seems to have plenty of GPU's to go around. I mean, they're everywhere already. It's like an invasion.

 
Good news for those of us who got in on this. Ther review from H says

Since we have two video cards here, we can overclock each one individually. We found that these video cards are great for overclocking. We were able to take the first one to 490MHz GPU frequency and 1.2GHz memory frequency. Better yet, we were able to take the second card even higher as it went up to 495MHz for the GPU frequency, which is a 70MHz overclock! The memory also ran faster at 1.22GHz. This means that we were able to take the BFGTech GeForce 7800 GT OC up to the memory bandwidth of a GeForce 7800 GTX and we came much closer to the pixel fillrate of the 7800 GTX with these GPU overclocks.
