Exactly. And the speed will drop dramatically and you'll have to subscribe again. I remember 4-5 months ago the forums were unusable for non-subscribers so I was posting very little. Now the speed is alright. I also think it has something to do with less people visiting the forums lately .

I know I'm new around here and probably wasting my time replying to this thread.

But I've been reading the Hot Deal form for over a year now.

IMHO the biggest problem I see is lack of community and ownership. It is very easy to feel alienated.

I'm a subscriber because I want to support the site and I could not sell/buy here very easily because of PM limits. I always have at least 300 saved it seems.

Never subscribed. Between the nefs and the attitude expressed in the thread in my sig I didn't see a need to.

Perhaps someday if there is a feature that would make it worthwhile.

well thats why anandtech upgrades. over time this latest upgrade will also become too slow, and well it'll be slow again. i am a subscriber, because well i like to support anands, i get 1000 PMs and the search feature is a lot better as a subscriber.

I subscribed because I knew that I was getting a lot of knowledge and expertise out of the forums, and because the speed made it easier to check for FS/FT pms and Hotdeals

I will be renewing my subscription next month.

I've really noticed the speed increase over the last few months (way to go anandtech!). If we were to click on the banners we see once a day... I bet they wouldn't need the subcriber option anymore.
