hey I will be baking some pies too! any tips?!
don't buy ready-made crust. make your own.

already failed 🙁

My GF made her own crust the first time a few years ago and it was excellent. We are lazy this year, though.

Pecan pie with cranberries. very tasty.

Nice  I  cranberries.

That reminds me... I baked some apple cranberry bread a couple of weeks ago and froze it so I'm going to be bringing/taking that to dinner too.

yes, the tangy cranberryness perfectly balances the ultra sweetness of the corn syrup. I'll never make pecan pies without a layer of cranberries again.

No sweet potato? Fail

not a fan. although it's made to taste similar to pumpkin, right?

Yeah. Its pretty much pumpkin without the pumpkin. It seems a bit more rich too. I really enjoy it. Give it a 2nd chance if it's been awhile since you've had one.

very similar. when I was young, my aunt would make what was called "sweet P" pie. It was only much later in life that we realized that it was actually sweet potato pie. She called it that b/c she knew my cousin would never eat it if he thought there were potatoes. It was our favorite desert, hehe.

Its ok, plenty of people mess up their first time. Next time it will turn out right and be a cake.
