Does it really cost that much to go to law school?

What if you go to law school at a UC?

I hope you are getting that degree from a good school and will command a strong income after, because that's a house you now owe.

I'm thinking about going to law school, but the cost is something that makes me reluctant. I think I'd have ~100k after my BE, MS, and Law degrees. Maybe it's worth it to get into the profession you want.

YES. especially in california.

UC tuition ain't cheap either! I think UCLA is about 17k per YEAR. and this is a PUBLIC school mind you. privates are usually about 28k a year in tuition alone. there are only FOUR public law schools in california. UCLA, UCB, Hastings, and Davis. imagine the competition. heck imagine the competition for out of state law schools, as you can declare residency after your second year.

then you need to start adding in housing... transportation... you have no life because you are a law student...

law schools i wanted were about 45k/year in CA, including housing and tuition and books.

Right now I'm at $0.. and hopefully plan on keeping it that way throughout the next 5 years as I finish my degree. (I've got Co-Op every 4 months which generally gets me enough cash for the next terms tuition and such..also I'm in Canada.. and I believe it's a tad cheaper here no?
