hmm. I wonder if I'm allowed to run a webserver. Screw this 5mb limit I get from school, I'll run my own damn server at work....

Serving porn from work is not exactly a good idea...by any strech of the imagination.

run a network line covertly in the middle of the night into like a janitor closet or something.

stick the pc in there and put VNC on it for remote administration..

think of the possibilities.. dedicated game server, ftp, web, irc bots..

and if it gets found they wont know it was u

If that's not asking for problems, I don't know what is!

oh man, I wish I was you! Actually not really. I'm happy to be here in my room off-campus with my Verizon Business Super-Dooper Plus 7100/768 DSL.

Its hard to imagine you have no firewall. Make sure you have no MP3's or warez or else the work could be responsible.

Two T1s? You know how much that would cost, just to not be used? Or do you mean the entire network is connected to two T1s?

No firewall, and it's a gov site... wonderful...

If you have a fully qualified domain name then my guess is you're running Windows 2000?

Yeah, it's win2k. Yeah, the no firewall thing is a big risk, some hacker might get in and find senstive information on how much water is flowing through the american river.....

The whole building is on 2 T1s, but there's no one else using them after 4:30PM.

Don't forget David McOwen, a member here.

If you don't remember, the jist was: installed distributed.net client on machines he administered at school and was sued to hell and back by the school district.

We have a pretty strict policy where I work to not allow rogue webservers. Be careful.

well, maybe there is som,e sort of firewall, cause I can't get onto the LAN from here, but there's no restrictions on webservers, for sure.
