Yes I know people are going to get on my case for jaywalking but I've been doing it for years and in the past year twice a day 5 days a week near where I work. In this case it's a 6 lane road too with a small island in the middle. I cross the first 3 lanes then stand on the island till it's clear to cross the next 3. Here's the thing I hate. Cars that stop for me. WTF? I'm the one breaking the law here man don't stop for me. I know you mean well but you're going to get me killed. You can't tell when it's safe for me to cross for gods sake only I can! I cross only when it's absolutely safe, when the only cars coming are quite a long ways off.

Obviously, you have the kind of face that can stop traffic.

I live in NYC, where most locals jaywalk habitually. Then, you'll get the group of 8 tourists trying to cross a side street with no traffic standing 8 across waiting for the signal to change. Hello--if you're going to so defiantly adhere to the crossing signal, at least step to the side so we can all jaywalk across the empty street instead of you blocking the entire sidewalk.

Then again, these are the same people who will be walking right in front of you, recognize a tall building, then stop in their tracks to look up or take a picture instead of stepping to the side. Then, they look at you with that "New Yorkers are so rude!" look if you bump into them accidentally while trying to get around them, or because you didn't expect them to randomly stop in the middle of the sidewalk.

I live in NYC too and a lot of locals jaywalk irresponsibly as well (such as going across when they have a don't walk sign and the street parallel to the crosswalk has a protected left turn; or they stand in the bike lane or enter the street without looking).

I also hate it when cars stop for me. But anyone who jaywalks at a busy intersection's crosswalk is a dumbass.

Yea, I think its a hippy pacific northwest thing. AKA - they're all idiots and bad drivers. I'm from Philly, and people jaywalk all the time there. Its just how you do it. You time it till its open, then you cross. The cars know how it works, the walkers know how it works. Then I moved to this hippy-infested swamp known as Seattle, and now if you even hint that you're going to cross the street, they slam the breaks on the Prius/Subaru and halt traffic until you cross. Its very irritating. Keep driving, let me do my thing.

And when they stop for you there are still tons of cars coming in the next lane over. So thanks lady for stopping for me ill just cross right now and get run over in the next lane.

Who said anything about crossing at an intersection. I never do that, that's just dumb as it's far too complex, you are just asking to get run over. But in the middle of a straight section of road I jaywalk all the time.

If it looks like youre about to cross, I'd rather stop to make sure i dont hit you. You're already a fucktard for trying to cross 6 lanes of traffic, I have no idea if youre too retarded to time your crossing perfectly if I dont stop/slow down.

Are you black? Black people love to jaywalk. They'll pass up a perfectly good crosswalk 10 feet away just so they can jaywalk.

Not sure why.

I sorta feel the same way actually, I'm not saying it's the "right" way to feel, but I agree.

this is sort of one of the reasons jaywalking is banned...someone stops, the guy behind him just flies around him and smashes your ass.

Then you sue them, the city and the state over it.
