I hope your Intellimouse Explorer breaks!!!!

My old IE Mouse died, so MS sent me a new one. On the box it states...

"Improved optical technology! Now 33% faster"

I swear, I can move this new mouse twice as fast without the cursor going wacko. 😀

How did you get a new one? Mine is starting to shake when it's just sitting there and sometimes it'll start jumping all over the place by itself...

I've owned both the original Intellimouse Explorer and the new model that claims to be 33% faster.

In my opinion, the "33% faster" claim is nothing but a marketing gimmick as I noticed absolutely no difference between the two mice.

wouldn't "33% faster" only apply if you used the old one at the maximum speed, and who does that? (unless this mouse is diferent from every other mouse I've had)

I feel a difference. I plugged in one mouse after the other, and the new mouse feels faster, maybe not twice as fast 😱, but noticable. I can move the mouse across the screen faster without the mouse becoming confused. This should go good with FPS games, even though I've gotten use to the old mouse.

Hey, I had the same problem, seems like there is a loose connection between the wire and the mouse that is causing it to power off.

33% refers to the sample per second. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the older IE mice have 1500 samples/sec and the newer mice have 2000 samples/sec.

Mixxen: I know, there is a wire short in there somewhere.

It is a retail mouse, so MS should replace it for free (its only a few months old), but I can't find a damn 800 # for the life of me.

Superbaby, I have the same experience... don't think it's anything you really have to worry about though. Probably a glitch or what not... doesn't hang around too long.

MIne skips around every once and a while. It usually is because of some dust on the lens or a hair that is there. I clean it off and the skipping stops.

I was told that you'll need a case number(that you get from calling the support line and troubleshooting). They're only open during normal business hours, I don't remember which time zone though.

JJ650,

I find it a bit amusing you said you had to clean your optical mouse out once in a while 🙂 Kind of knocks off a feature!

Hmm you're right there was a bit of dust and gunk surrounding the LCD. I wiped it off but it remains to be seen how the tracking goes... I also noticed my buttons where coming a bit loose and the silver paint has rubbed off a lot 🙂 You can tell exactly how my hand fits on the Explorer 🙂

Any luck with that 800 number? I need to call soon!

My MS optical (not the explorer) feels a bit "crunchy". Its hard to explain, but if i put a bit of pressure on the sides of the mouse, it crunches together as if the plastic is only 1mm thick. Its a nice mouse, but overall doesn't feel as sturdy as my old MS home serial mouse (which is now about 6 years old and still in perfect condition)

PFFFFFFT!!!!! I had a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical and it was a piece of feces. At max sensitivity it was far from precise and worse than a serial mouse. And like DOAcleric stated, it felt cheap...like the plastic was gonna crack or submit under the slightest amount of pressure. So I took it right back to Electronics Boutique and replaced it with a Logitech Mouseman Wheel optical (also boasting the so called new-improved optical technology). Let me tell ya, this mouse is a whole lot better! Smoother than my friends Razer Boomslang 1000 and stays cleaner. I only have 2 complaints about it however. #1. The thumb button is a bit hard to press. The button is smaller than the orginal (roller-ball) Mouseman Wheel. #2. The weight of the thing. It's just as heavy if not as heavy as the original. The one thing I liked about the Intellimouse was that it's light. So, what I did was open it up and found a nice size chunk of brass bolted onto the inside upper shell. So i just took that out and the mouse is much lighter.

My Intellimouse explorer broke too. I used the # istallion posted and called. It took 3 minutes, no ?? asked. They said it will come in 3-5 days, and i dont have to pay a penny. Thanx Everyone, i was just about to buy a new one, when i read the thread. Thanx

I got a new one under warranty too! Actually, I got an Intellimouse Optical when my Intellimouse w/Intellieye broke. This thing RULE for gaming. Gotta say, whatever else they have problems with, MS is on top of mousing.
