there's no mandarin word for quality. that might be part of the problem.

You're a fucking moron. I've studied Chinese for 4 years now, the word for quality in Mandarin Chinese is "zhi liang" both 4th tone.

It looks like this in characters: 质量.

Well, quite honestly.. "zhi liang" must not be in most Chinese factory owners' vocabularies.

Is there anything quality that comes out of China? I hate to be cynical, but it's disgusting. Where is their pride? Instead they steal ideas and produce them as cheaply as possible.

That's the whole point of Chinese manufacturing, cheapness. Sometimes it's high quality sometimes it's not. The quality depends on how they can work the slave laborers... not on how well they treat them or pride in their work.

There's plenty of quality things that come out of China. For example, lookup Seagull watch movements. The Chinese company was sued by a Swiss watch maker for supposedly getting too close to their design. Seagull actually won in Swiss court because their design was so much better than the original swiss one. Apple also builds their products there, and you can knock them for a lot, but their build is definitely high quality.

This problem happened in one of two different ways:
A. The unit was delivered to the specifications of Ford, in which case Ford underengineered the unit.
B. The unit wasn't delivered to the specifications of Ford, in which case Ford QC should have made the manufacturer repair the already shipped units at their cost.

This is similar to the Toyota frames which rusted that were made here in the states. Other manufacturers used frames from the same supplier (Dana IIRC) but Toyota requested a different blend for the coating to cut costs. Dana supplied what Toyota requested, is that Dana's fault?

Truth is, right now we don't know and we may never know. I just hope Ford takes care of it's customers.

Cheap shit is cheap shit no matter where it is manufactured

There is a lot of quality products coming out of PRC. Pride does not come into play.

And those two words don't mean quality to me anyway, could be a PRC Vs Taiwan diction issue.

Hopefully this is overblown. I have a 2011 GT and have had no issues with shifting. However, if I do start having problems, I think I'll just swap it out with a Tremec T56.

Question about this issues... will the new Boss use this same transmission? Does the GT500 use it?
